What's your favourite music genre(s)?

Mine's rap, hip hop, RnB and a little bit of rock.
Zarathustra
About all I listen to by choice is classical music, although I hear a lot of contemporary stuff when I go out or watch television.

The Colonel
To Mr. No one: Just about...Johnny Cash, and I certainly like the bagpipes, but wouldn't listen to the other noises you refer to as music.

I am rather partial to most Italian aria (esp. Caruso, scratchy please), Bizet, Purcell and can take a little Verdi. I also enjoy folk music from all corners of the British Isles, early American Country before influences and some Continental [European Mainland] folk music. thumbup2.gif

Well I listen to bout everything but Techno / Heavy Metal and HipHop really. I listen particularly a lot to classical music, as I ve grown up with it at home, but do like some occasional indie pop atm. Thanks to some friends, I ve been to a few real nice "low budget" concerts of indie bands. I hate anything with major labels (as in wouldnt pay for a concert) as they get on my nerves with the DRM and legal stuff thats been going on in the past / present / future.

Is there a thread here where everyone lists their music whistling.gif ? I have/had to rip all my CDs again though, as I recently lost 2 Hdds worth of data sad.gif .

You don't like Hip Hop? sad.gif Any particular reason for that?
Yourhighness
Nope, not really. Just 2 out of 3 HipHop songs (of the fewI get in contact with) do not really suite my taste. Dunno.
Rawe
I listen to pretty much anything but rap or black metal (exception being Old Man's Child, melodic black metal, I like how they do the melodies, the vocals aren't my stuff), mainstream catchy pop stuff isn't usually for me either since they get boring fast.

Right now I've been listening to a lot of melodic death metal, and technical death metal.

In Flames (old albums, when they really did melodic stuff), Dark Tranquillity (Character is way too awesome for a album), Atheist is also nice, the Unquestionable Presence album is great.

Also Darkest Hour. I suppose it's more metalcore than MDM, but it still sounds great, the album Deliver Us to be exact.

But then again, as my music taste is pretty extensive, I like The Album Leaf. Now this is pop done right. Awesome ambient/instrumental stuff, so relaxing. smile.gif

Rock n Roll rules. thumbup.gif I also like bluegrass, and some Rockabilly.Guess I'm old fashioned.
I think Hip-Hop is crap. crazy.gif
Teenage.Zombiee
I like my metal black like my coffee smile.gif I also enjoy heavy metal, glam metal, death metal, post hardcore, emocore (you know, it was a genre in the 80's), pop punk, horror punk, post hardcore, hardcore, rock, alternative and basically anything with loud noise, fast drums etc. I'm very different lol

I hate rap, rnb and hip hip with a passion.

Pretty much parallel your tastes, but have a special liking for soft swing and piano/base/drums trios - also soloists like John Coliani at Maybeck (his 'Stardust" is so-o-o relaxing), plus Kate Ceberano and Wendy Matthews version of 'You've always got the Blues' is a great vocal with a dream backing. If anyone can guide me to a slow, relaxing base/drums/piano trio I'll be most appreciative! mellow.gif

I also like Country music.

Rap - they left the "C" of that word.
DSTM
Forgot to mention Rap.That is utter rubbish.IMO.
I like some Country Music, but hate the singers that cry and whine.
Check out Toby Kieth,on Utube, Vicki. To me, thats how Country music should sound. thumbup2.gif
blackspyder
mostly nu-metal but Classic Country (Hank, Johnny Cash, ect) and whatever else sounds good
Conundrum
I grew up with very early rock & roll. Pre - '60's.

I'm actually a Blues fan - Muddy Waters and similar. He might just be the best "slide" guitar?

I'm an old R&R drummer. I've killed more snares than most have ever seen..... giggle.
KingOfIdiocy
I have a wide ranging taste in music. Some would be considered trendy now, some would lose me any credibility I may have.
Iodine
Oh come on KingOfidiocy, what are your favorites?? They can't be that bad and I doubt that you'll lose your credibility. If you do we just ignore you for a day or two and then ask you to never play your music for us... hysterical.gif
KingOfIdiocy
Ok Iodine, favourite genres would cover most or them.

Some sample singers/bands would be Alice Cooper, Evanescence, Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Adam and the Ants.

Not too bad right?

Well ph34r.gif here are the cred killers; Rhydian Roberts, Lolly(Anna Kumble)

Now to destroy what's left of my dignity. I also like the song 'Atmosphere' by Russ Abbot.

Posting in old topic tongue.gif

I'm probably the odd man out when it comes to music tongue.gif

Most of what I listen to is foreign based. Generally Japanese music. I also do listen to a few Latin based lyrical music (if that makes any sense at all).
drksky2103
the funny thing about asking someone what kind of music they like is the mood always changes, 2 years ago i would have said rap but today its heavy metal. any song that fits your mood at the time is a good one, except bluegrass... (sorry dad)
