Full Version: Family values and Christmas time ...
ThoughtVent > Family > Family values
Mara
Just wondering how many other members enjoy using this holiday season to teach little ones about family values?

The Salvation Army kettles work great for me ... when the little ones pop in money, it's a chance to discuss how we feel about those in need all year round, etc.

Come to think about it, it's also a great time to teach children to 'lie'. Yup, I know telling fibs is normally a no-no but there's surely a fine-line between fibbing to get ourselves out of trouble and smiling and saying a thank you to Aunt Sadie when they open without doubt a ghastly gift each year - gentle grin. (After all, that hand-knit orange and purple sweater is lovely in her eyes or she wouldn't have made it!).

I find people usually only talk about those in need all year round at Christmas.

I am generalizing, not having a go.
