Alright this might seem weird, but after reading "The Da Vinci Code," I've become fascinated with the number 1.618. smile.gif

The most beautiful number in the world!

Phi = 1.61803399
phi = .61803399

The Golden Number ~ http://goldennumber.net/

Golden Ratio ~ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_ratio

Weird relations between the number 5 and Phi ~ http://goldennumber.net/five(5).htm

Nice YouTube video about Phi ~ http://youtube.com/watch?v=_w19BTB5ino

Pi, Phi, and Fibonacci sequence ~ http://goldennumber.net/pi-phi-fibonacci.htm

The following is from: http://evolutionoftruth.com/div/fibomyst.htm

*Fibonacci, Phi and Spirals in Nature

If you sum the squares of any series of Fibonacci numbers, they will equal the last Fibonacci number used in the series times the next Fibonacci number.

*DNA

The DNA molecule, the program for all life, is based on the golden section. It measures 34 angstroms long by 21 angstroms wide for each full cycle of its double helix spiral.
Construction of the golden section DNA and the golden section

34 and 21, of course, are numbers in the Fibonacci series and their ratio, 1.6190476 closely approximates phi, 1.6180339.

Plus to calculate Phi:

5 ^ .5 * .5 + .5 = Ø (Phi)

2 + 1^2 + 2^2 + 3^2 + 5^2 = 5 x 8
therefore:
1^2 + 1^2 + . . . + F(n)^2 = F(n) x F(n+1)

Also phi (.618) is one of the few numbers where:

x^2 = x + 1
(.61803399)^2 = (.61803399) + 1 = 1.61803399

Ever hear of this before? Seen it before?

yes vaguely remember it ,but i flumoxed if i can go through all that again as my brain is full of hjt lines for my training and nothing else sinks in at the moment . there's a show over here were they use the likes of the Fibonacci sequence to solve clues the show is called the quest and they travel round the world solving clues and such.

Wait...is Phi just essentially half of Pi?

How could you loose brain cells? lol Anyways I love math, always have, always will. And no Phi is not half of pi. They are completely different.

Sounds cool mz30. That would be my kind of show. smile.gif

My Advanced Trig and College level physics is not helping me in the least with this one, but then again its been almost 7 years since i had a Science or Math class.
