Read Report here
The better the troops are doing in Iraq, the less the MSM wants to report on it. Combat deaths are down by 70% since May yet we hear NOTHING of how good they are doing. -------------------- 'No arsenal, no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women.'

As I say, the American public are extremly hypocrytical and only look to draw blood. Never to give our leaders the credit they deserve. For example, the people who ALWAYS complain about the war or even airport security checks, are the FIRST to open thier mouths and complain when a terrorist attack occurs. This is the sad truth that we live in, where no one can cooperate in order to achieve progress.

Since most TV news prefers the video excitement of a scene of disasters or after-effects of a bombing, it is not surprising that Iraq becomes---for them---non-news. After all, who wants to watch a newscaster talking without some interesting scene to watch for the 45 seconds devoted to the story?
In the less-than-30 minutes time alloted for informing the citizenry, every second counts, and the more "entertaining" the video, the more the national TV news can "cover" and the higher the ratings. Z PS (2-29-08) Recently a local TV station has advertised that its NewsHour guarantees 50 news items every day. Now it doesn't define "news item," but considering the programme lasts one hour (less two commercial breaks) this means an average news item will last something around one minute! -------------------- Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one should be silent.

It's the old if it bleeds it leads end of business. I do have to admit that I'm surprised that the Republicans haven't tried to use these figures to bolster their position on their stand.

Let's not get carried away here. Troop casualties are down which is great b/c they certainly need a break. That means violence is down as well, which is also good. It's like the cops raiding a party. The partying stops & the partyers scatter. The purpose of this surge was to quell the violence long enough so that the Iraqi gov't could find common ground & pass some meaningful legislation the Iraqi people could rally around. It seems its no closer to that than before the surge started. How long can troop levels be sustained at present levels before you see a breakdown? They can't be deployed forever. After the cops leave, partying starts all over again.

Uh, the left-leaning, anti-Bush main stream media isn't reporting something that may make Bush look good!?
I'm shocked! -------------------- |

Read Report here The better the troops are doing in Iraq, the less the MSM wants to report on it. Combat deaths are down by 70% since May yet we hear NOTHING of how good they are doing. Dear Vicki, It's not exciting unless you get to see the train wreck. People don't pay thirty dollars to see some guy win the race, heck they came to see the cars crash! Also it's not to the betterment of our waring leaders if the news reports the trueth about how those numbers got that way! You see, there is no-Iraq army. There is a bunch of extremists using the warheads of weapons left lying around, and now the rulers of those extremists must pick and choose where they want to blowup people for the best effect! Other than getting re-supplies from other places and other countries, they are running out of munitions to make their IED's with! It's not that our guys are winning any battles, because there are no-battles being fought. Our troops are like the little ducks at the arcade shooting gallery. They are just driving around looking for someone to shoot at them first, and then they get to shoot back. But until this happens: they just drive and drive waiting for someone to take a potshot at them, all the while praying that today is not the day somebody collected enough explosive to build an IED big enough to blow up their Humvee! This is the cold hard facts of this war! The number of assaults are only down becasue those extremists are running low on bomb making supplies. Right now even, Arm ina dinner jacket of Iran is a bit worried about getting caught sending the terroists any of his stuff. But rest assured, there are those in his country willing to take a chance of slipping explosives across the border. "THE MONEY IS JUST TOO DARN GOOD" to stop illegal trafficking of weapons! Then just like the CEO's of our tobacco companies; he can swear under oath thta he knows nothing about it! Meanwhile, The "NEWS GUYS" are running around your neighborhood looking for some mother who left her baby in the public toilet to die! Isn't horrible how we have become? |

I bet if there was ever a real success in Iraq, the media would report on it. A lower death count one month doesn't make success. Until Iraq is a real independent country again, and our soldiers aren't walking around waiting to find IEDs, then there has been no progress to speak of since Saddam was dethroned.
