NASA CALLS OFF SHUTTLE LAUNCH DUE TO SENSOR GLITCH IN FUEL TANK
This was a headline from the Fox Email alert that I subscribe to. My question - Does anyone think we are just wasting a LOT of money here. Don't get we wrong I think the space station is kind of neat, but could these MILLIONS be spent more wisely elsewhere? Do we really need to send probes to mars, or crash into a comet to collect dust looking for life when we have life here that needs HELP. I know this sounds sort of negatory, but I do think it's important to explore space. After all, after we destroy/use up everything here, how will the human race survive?...if we deserve to...
But there are better ways to spend that money, I'll agree with you there. This post has been edited by Sphinx: Dec 7 2007, 01:10 PM |

After all, after we destroy/use up everything here, So should we be like locusts and just us up one place, then move onto another? -------------------- 'No arsenal, no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women.'

Either that or self-annihialation (is that how you spell it?).

These are just in from a NASA space mission. These pixs are so good that it makes one feel as if you are there taking the pictures.

Great pics, I hadn't realized how big the shuttle and the spacestation were. Thanks for sharing them.
My parents will be passing through next month on their way to Florida to watch the Shuttle taking off. They have already seen it take off during the day, and now they want to see it take off a night. A question to anyone - Can you see the spacestation from the ground yet, I mean at night, I realized it must get much bigger to see it during the day. I'm all for exploring space but wonder right along with others if we can actually afford to do so, financially.
A family who has a massive debt and just keeps adding to it is foolish indeed - wonder why our governments think they are immune. |

Very nice pics! As far a crashing into comet Tempel 1 I believe it had more to do with " can we do it ? " and hopes of finding out what it's made of, In hope of furthering our understanding of how to deal with such an object that is heading our way. (as of right now we're probably screwed, unless they have a secret "armageddon" type plan we don't know about
