Hello,

Living in this dread; NYC capital of our capitalist country. Where real money only comes from the investments we make on companies that help turn us into working zombies. The MACHINE …a conglomerate of privatized soul sucking billionaire pieces of %&@!#!…have been quite successful in their attempt at breeding mediocre education, a quality of life that requires at least 2 jobs, retirement conditions fit for….well….working zombies. And a constant tape recorder in our brain reading the words BUY ME…everything in this place is for sale…beginning with our souls…Money and Private, the two key ingredients that make up this ‘democracy’. Except that in this democracy there is no voice, only a recording…from our…customer service representative…your call is very important to us, please hold…WHO BUYS INTO THIS %&@!#!!!! I HATE THIS COUNTRY…Part of my American lingo…hate, is a frequent one….hate, depressed, unhappy, stress, can’t, can, cant , can….and just plain tears at times cause %&@!#! just isn’t enough… ‘FORNICATION UNDER CONSENT OF THE KING’ …the king is dead…
Manicured bush fences have become taller, the need for private space, has become of the essence. This is what we work for…distance from one another…is part of the recording instilled in our American brain…along with that credit card application that we MUST fill out in our college cafeteria. Our introduction to hell begins here, in the college cafeteria… Once college is over and the worthless diploma is handed out…the 1st stages of the ‘SCREW ME’ operation by our privatized country is now on its way. Millions of ignorant 21 yr. olds are now thousands of dollars in debt over useless college education and credit card debt. Now the operation continues under ‘SCREW ME:HARDER PLEASE’ over the next few years. We begin to familiarize ourselves with the ‘system’ ; One that blames every single thing wrong with you on your inabilities and tries to fix it all with a pill…’are u sad, do you feel tired, this magic pill will cure it all’… And people BUY IT!!! It’s amazing, a pill will not transfer you to an island with free drinks and raining money! This is what we Americans dream of…winning the lottery… because we live in a system that makes it impossible to have a decent life with enough vacation to actually heal a person. WHY!!! Because here we come to become working zombies. This is why we are the richest country in the world…because we work day and night and have 5 sick days a year and have to pay for everything…so that America can be GREAT…and create more wars and drama over nonexistent nuclear devices, instead of using OUR energy to nurture US, it tears them down to the core, so that only its CEO and partners can benefit. Later on souls are taken back to the manufacturer and become coke cans, which we sell to the rest of the world. And our voice is lost…we are too busy crying over impending debt to actually yell and protest over this revolting system. So why I’m I here, with a %&@!#!ty job, no family, no health insurance, barely an apt., and a soul about to become a soda can?

P.S. I apologize for any rudeness you might've encountered, I'm only venting...I am also very aware of my worldly pampered position as an American...We could do better though with our own...

Vent away Gypsy, I have different life experiences. I'm lucky, though to have escaped a very poor rural back ground and managed to get a bit of education. Mostly, I fended for myself after the age of 16, but I can't deny that my upbringing forced me onward.

Good Day Gypsy and Queen, in_love.gif
When I got into your post Gypsy I too like Queen thought this thread is about religion your current vent doesn't mention religion or faith. But, having said that clearly I agree that privatizing our nation has had the effect of closing down dissent because one doesn't go to the public square to complain about an employer or service provider to address a wrong we instead go to the courts and congress to sue a petition for redress which is the real tragedy because they (our government) that changed the laws or failed to have oversight or discontinued regulations that make our very lives seem circular wacko.gif So right about now you begin to pray for patience and peace to count your blessings because you know that even as bad as our economy is or your ability to keep up and have any energy left over to enjoy the fruits of your labor let alone try to coordinate any collective effort to change things to push against the machine.
The highlighted sentence is the reason we don't push back cause it just don't seem that bad compared too (insert your favorite poor nation)(If not clear, yes I am being sarcastic).
So I add my vent here too this thread about religion whistling.gif

I like capitalism. Anyway, no one makes you buy those expensive things which makes you work more to earn more. I'm going to lead a simple life of solitude and video game playing. The core of your rant simply comes down to foolish people buying stuff they don't need, and it puts them in debt. Remove such inhibitions and you will have a happy life. Being single helps too by the way. Such is the wisdom of Solaris32. Have a nice day smile.gif.

I like being able to own property and increase one's wealth.

Don't want to negate what you mentioned about overspending as it's surely true for many - but for others, circumstances beyond their ctontrol can devestate their family finances and even leave them homeless. Eep!

But at least in your country and mine (and obviously others), we have a 'fall back' net. Dod forbid it should ever happen but we've got social assistance and in reality suffer little chance of starving to death should the worse happen. Not so for many, many others throughout our world. Understand the frustration at times, truly I do (I'm apt to mutter and grumble about our government too smile.gif ) but in reality I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Capitolism is the foundation of democracy, we usually call it "Free Enterprise".... Sounds better... mellow.gif

Anyway, whats wrong with it..? Free enterprise is what allows a poor migrant worker, to come to America and work hard, start his own business, and possibly become a billionare (it still happens)...
You'll here (or see, actually) me being critical of many aspects of our government, however, the free enterprise system is not one of them... There is nothing (IMO) on this plannet that beats it.....
To be "Anti-Free Enterprise" is to be Anti-American.... A Democracy can not work with out it....

I tend to agree that Democracy and Free-enterprise seem to be mutually supportive (perhaps symbiotic). I think this is because both presuppose that people should be as free as possible to make choices, whether at the ballot box or at Jack-in-the-Box.
This philosophical dependence seems to be reflected in modern history. Planned economies tend to require some form of tyranny, and end up making the lives of the people drab, stiffling, and extremely poor relative to their neighbors.
Take for example recent Chinese history. The 'great leaps forward' of Mao were an economic disaster; it was only when the Communist Party began to allow the beginnings of free enterprise that economic conditions began to improve (taking over Hongkong may have been a deciding moment); and with this new economic policy came some increase in freedom (stopping at certain limits at Tienemen Square). The contradiction between political and economic freedom today is causing some concern with the leaders (not to mention with those being lead) that will necessitate some kind of resolution or accommodation.

Again, historians note that the European great leap forward, the Industrial Revolution, first and foremost exploded in what was the most free of countries, Great Britain (the home of John Smith), and that, hand-in-hand with this Revolution came a greater extension of the franchise (the Reform Bills, Chartism).

Regards,
Z
