QUOTE
Nebraska State Senator Ernie Chambers (D - Omaha) filed suit against God on Friday, asking a court to order the Almighty and his followers to stop making terrorist threats. The lawsuit, filed in a Nebraska district court for Douglas County, contends that God, along with his followers of all types and creeds, “has made and continues to make terroristic threats of grave harm to innumerable persons.” Those threats are credible given God’s history, Chambers’ complaint says.

I'm confused - how is it that someone who is an agnostic can sue someone whom he doesn't believe exists?

Wouldn't the act of filing legal action against God imply that he believes that God exists?

'God' takes legal action

From the article:
QUOTE
"God" obviously has the same sense of humour, claiming he is immune from some earthly laws and the court lacks jurisdiction.

It has also been reported that "God" was seen carrying this sign:

It simply has to be a joke, surely?! And if real, any Court that actually wastes time of something like this is scary in itself. Geesh!

I've been giggling all day over this story. I'm sure the Judge involved wishes he could have a piece of the movie rights on this one.

He says what he is actually doing by filing this suit is to stop laws that are being written to prevent the filing of frivilous lawsuits. Yet he cites no laws,at least that I saw.

QUOTE
"The Constitution requires that the courthouse doors be open, so you cannot prohibit the filing of suits," Chambers says. "Anyone can sue anyone they choose, even God."

I don't really see his purpose as the doors are open. The contingent-fee agreement prevents frivolous lawsuits from being filed in the first place. Basically a Percentage agrrement based upon winning or losing said case.
They do something even more important: They provide access to the courts to everyone. Not many people can afford to pay an attorney's hourly fee.

If contingent-fee agreements were abolished, two things would happen: Only the rich would be able to file lawsuits, and attorneys would be far more willing to file a lawsuit that doesn’t have merit; when you’re paid by the hour, it doesn’t matter if you win or lose.

QUOTE
Chambers also cites that the, "defendant directly and proximately has caused, inter alia, fearsome floods, egregious earthquakes, horrendous hurricanes, terrifying tornados, pestilential plagues..."

Fox News
This part also contradicts his agnostic point of view.
