Due to my fathers slight illness we will have to take lil wade to a babysitter while we work. Lately he has become rather clingy and i am extremely worried and upset about the whole situation. I know what i am doing is for the best, but still it breaks my heart. Take for instance this morning when we dropped him off at my parents house (this was just before dad got sick) he screamed and clung to big wades jacket for his dear little life. We were all the way to the car and i could still hear him. If anyone has suggestions on easing the separation anxiety (for him OR me) i am open to suggestions. I know it is something that is just not going to go away but if i could just make it a bit easier on all involved i would be happy. Thanks!! huh.gif

Many, many years ago we had a similar problem with our youngest daughter (the others were fine), so we simply got the lady (who was to baby sit her)
to come to our house and have some "family" time with us so baby got to know her 'new friend' in a comfortable familiar environment - took two x 2 hour visits and it worked! Worth a try and I do hope that it sorts out for you - it IS a terrible wrench the first time of leaving and hearing the desolate crying - but it DOES pass.

Very good advise, Quietmike.

Don't know how old your little Wade is but as soon as he understands that you will return, things get much easier as well.

he is 18 months old, and today he was not too bad about it actually, she had cartoons on the tv and a bowl of cereal, he didn't even notice us leave. So now we just have to cure MY separation anxiety....

Oh dear, welcome to parenthood - gentle smile. For while separation anxiety now is very real, worry doesn't end no matter how old our 'babies' become. But I promise it's well worth the trade-off!

Know exactly what you mean, but it's a loving/protective worry that you never lose, but it stays at a rational level as time goes by. From what I gather about garmanna (dad) you have a very sensible and caring "pop" who can probably give you more good advice than anyone else! Hope your "seperation anxiety" has receded to a bearable level! thumbup2.gif

We could always do this. Of course as big as he's getting we'd need a roll every time
