Authentic Greek Baklava!! Wow, I'd love to have some right now. Ken had a friend that worked with him and his mother came here from Greece. Could she ever cook!! Ken brought me home a piece of the Baklava that she had sent in to work for them one day and it just melted in your mouth. I had a birthday coming up and asked her if she'd make me baklava if I bought the ingredients (it can be expensive to make) She ended up presenting me with a 9 x 13 pan full of baklava plus some extra syrup in case it should dry out. I froze the syrup and some of the baklava (it's too rich to eat the whole pan at once darn it) and ate on it for 2 months!! I'd love to have some more but Ken's friend isn't there anymore and we've lost track of him. Help!! Anyone have a recipe for the real deal?? There's alot of imitations out there but you can't beat the real thing!!

Cabbage rolls - the old fashioned way an elderly Mennonite neighbour used to make them. And great fat 'sticky buns', dripping with melted brown sugar and butter, the way my Mother used to make them.

Oh dod, this thread is seriously making me hungry, especially since I've missed breakfast and lunch today!

White or red?

Mara - I have to confess I don't know! crazy.gif It's just that travelling along the great coastal road in Victoria, some years ago, we came to a small fisherman's type cafe and pulled in for a meal break. On the menu was "Clam Chowder" - never having had it before I tried it - delicious!! Oh, yes, well it WAS white, almost milky - does fit the bill? If so, what is the magic ingredient of 'red'?? I love seafood of all kinds, but this was a new experience, hard to repeat as I don't get to visit the coast too much these days. angry.gif

Curry sauce on chips. I can't have any because I am ill and food will make me worse. I rarely lose my appetite when I am ill.

Changing the 'What' to 'Who' in the thread title should 'spice' things up. wink.gif
