Today my 1 year old fell of the couch. of course i jumped and got scared, but he was fine. My husband and my father (both with the best of intentions) told me to get used to it, "he's a boy". I know he is going to get hurt and things over the years, and like my dad said i will always worry. but i guess i do have a tendency to over react and i am realizing i have to limit that now because little wade always looks at me before he cries when he falls and stuff.

ahh the joys of mommyhood...

Quite natural to over react. I can think of three incidents with our little Martha who's now 4. Once getting on a bus I lifted the pram and my wife was not ready, Martha nearly slid out! On an escalator, the same, only half way up! NEVER but NEVER take a pram/buggie on an escalator with a child on, I nearly had a heart attack! Finally, in a major store recently she was walking besides me whilst I pushed her buggy, (again, a pram incident!), when I felt some friction with the buggy, luckily I did not try to push the buggy harder, which is the natural inclination, for Martha had somehow got her foot stuck between the double front wheel somehow, (God only knows how!), and it took a while to free. Luckily, on all three occasions she was fine. But this is parenthood, we will always be worrying about them for as long as we breathe, it's a lifetime parental thing. And we are expecting another at the end of the month........
