Wait a sec....I thought GW Bush was the biggest liar on the planet? Didn't I read that somewhere?

Oh, I get it....He's not a liar when he says something you want to hear.

A number of scientists have shown clear correlation between solar activity (sunspots) and the rise and fall of temperatures here on earth.

Sunspot activity, or, as is the case recently, the lack thereof, may be an indicator of continued global cooling.

QUOTE
You probably haven’t heard much of Solar Cycle 24, the current cycle that our sun has entered, and I hope you don’t. If Solar Cycle 24 becomes a household term, your lifestyle could be taking a dramatic turn for the worse. That of your children and their children could fare worse still, say some scientists, because Solar Cycle 24 could mark a time of profound long-term change in the climate. As put by geophysicist Philip Chapman, a former NASA astronaut-scientist and former president of the National Space Society, “It is time to put aside the global warming dogma, at least to begin contingency planning about what to do if we are moving into another little ice age.”

Full article h e r e.

Personallly, I'm not ready to proclaim the beginning of another "little ice age", but there is more factual evidence that the sun has a greater effect on our climate than there is that anthropogenic CO2 emissions are having more than a very minor effect.

Google "solar cycle 24" cooling.

If this does happen though, ironically, higher CO2 levels will be an extremely good thing since those areas that will be of a temperature where the growing seasons are adequate will be able to bear more produce.

I agree with that.

So why accept the future that you are being told will happen (the Al Gore apocalypse)?

Why accept that the only solution is to do what he says (through his financially lucrative carbon trading concept)?

Especially when there is so much doubt.

I have researched Al Gore,his Education,his achievements,his awards,and I must say I am impressed.
I also watched an interview with Oprah, which he stated his crusade is not Political or Partisan, but Ethical.
He is useing his Nobel Peace Prize money, and his own money to spent 300mil, on Ads to make everybody aware,of the state of our Planet.
Would you spend your money and do the same?

First, the entire 300 million is not all his money, and second, he is reportedly estimated to earn over 500 million over the next 10 years.

That is, if folks continue to buy what he is selling.

The current global cooling and possible continued cooling may slow that down and perhaps give the scientific community the opportunity to correct the psuedo-science that pervades the AGW/CO2 movement.

Besides, you left out one very important item about Gore - he is a career politician. Not being truthful seems to be a prerequisite to a successful political career. laugh.gif

Keeping it simple - Gore said that Global temperatures would continue to rise as atmosphereic CO2 levels keep rising, and this is not happening and has not been happening for about 8 years (and cooling is predicted to contiue for 7+ years). Just that simple situation should make one question the accuracy of what he says, since it clearly shows he is incorrect.

His website is soliciting donations so he can spend "his" money if you want to send him some. laugh.gif

I have a feeling that in a few decades from now, people will be looking at this time period just like how we view the Red Scare and McCarthyism. What will they call it, the Warming Scare? Now that I'm thinking about it, there are quite a few similiarities between Gore and McCarthy. Interesting to think about.

Let me also say this:

I've seen recent interviews of Al Gore.

I believe he believes what he is saying. I do not think he is deliberately or knowingly trying to defraud anyone. In fact, his demeanor when he discusses AGW/CO2 is almost religious in nature.

He is as smooth as an aluminium siding salesman sounding so believable that one doesn't really care what the facts really are.

Just an observation.

I believe Al believes in the infallibility of Al (after all he did invent the internet lmfao.gif), . I know this is going to sound crazy but I'm really not that thirsty so no Al Bore "kool-aid" for me thanks. I did find another group of "true believers" that use the same type of logic and are just as fanatic about their beliefs here

Very funny, no one.

I would like to point out that you can not have "global" warming

on a flat earth!

The May results are out for temperature anomalies [MSU] and CO2 [Mauna Loa]. The global temperature anomaly was -0.18 C, northern hemisphere -0.048 and the southern hemisphere was -0.311 C, still cooling and the CO2 value for May was 388.49 ppmv, a larger than normal increase for May over the 2007 value of 386.54 ppmv.

In other words, global cooling continues while CO2 levels continue to rise.

Next thing we will be hearing is Al Gore saying, "This clearly shows that rising CO2 levels are causing Global Cooling. We must curtail our CO2 emissions."

"What a maroon, what an ignoranimous!"

Without trawling over the last 4 pages, has it been mentioned that over the last decade, global temperatures have decreased by .03 degrees average each year over the ten since 1998? Indeed it is Global Cooling that is the herald.

Yes, it has, The Colonel, but there remains even more debate over whether it will end in 2015 or extend to 2030, or even longer.

As noted, the cooling does not square well with the "CO2 rising causes temps to rise" hypothesis. Especially since atmospheric CO2 levels continue to rise. Perhaps the cooling trend will get even more scientists to queston this hypothesis. Not only more scientists, but more politicians, too, since they are the one's who are making decisions based on what they are told is happening rather than what really is happening.
