It may be that I'm just not very bright but I seem to miss the point that she is trying to make here

Yeah, me neither.

The development of Erin is considered, and a comparison made to Hurricane Katrina, for the reason that Katrina and Erin were of comparable size (Erin was bigger, by most measures). It is noted that the media reported very little about the potential risk Erin posed around the time of 9/11, compared to what was reported regarding Katrina – even before Katrina made landfall.

Well, since Katrina was in the Gulf and there was certainty that it was heading towards land, and Erin way out in the Atlantic and not heading for land at all, why is it surprising that the media "reported very little about the potential risk Erin posed"?

Erin posed very little potential risk.

Methinks Dr. Judy Wood is just looking for attention.

Like most ridiculous claims, it is not possible to be proven one way or the other. Extremely improbable.

And this matters why? So a hurricane had a possibility of landing in NYC on 9/11, but it didn't, and she's complaining about the people not being told? If thats the gist here, then I think this a woman in need of attention cause thats a pretty weak argument
