The love affair with the main stream media is over. Obama, finally got slammed dunked by journalist Charlie Gibson & George Stephanopolis during the debate in Pennsylvania. The left is outraged, stating that they were too hard on Obama. "it just wasn't fair"!
Yet, over recent months Americans have noticed a notable bias from liberal media outlets, especially coming from the MSN'S in FAVOR of Obama. Hillary was complaining, that the prior debates were unfair to her. SNL has continually made fun of the debates--showing a deliberate bias in favor of Obama. Well, the "chickens have come home to roost." Obama didn't look too well last night. Constantly having to defend his elitist comments, his pastor disaster, & now something new. His association with an American terrorist. After about 40 minutes of him having to answer to these questions, which in my opinion, he still hasn't. Especially regarding Rev. Wright, he stumbled on answers to policy. This is where Charlie Gibson won his war. Obama talking about taxes, stating he would only raise taxes on anyone making over 250K per year. Charlie WMD-D Obama when Obama stated he was going to raise capital gains tax to 28% from the current 15%. When Charlie "informed" Obama that the government collects more taxes when capital gains tax is lowered. Then informed him that over 1 million working class Americans are invested in the stock market, Obama looked stunned. When Charlie stated that raising capital gains tax is actually a tax increase to all Americans, Obama looked dumbfounded, & yet still tried to defend his position by stating. "Warren Buffet" told me that he pays less percentage in taxes than his secretary does. Obama then states he is after the wealthy wall-streeters. Still failing to realise that if Warren Buffets poor secretary has any kind of investment, she will still be paying the same amount in capital gains tax as her boss, Warren Buffet. Then Charlie got him again on raising the cap on Social security, calling it another tax increase. Oh well, it went on. But, it is very easy to see that if Obama cannot read a speech from a telepromter, he is out in the cold. Obama lost this debate in a very big way. Both on personal issues, & set policies he plans to inact. |

QUOTE The left is outraged, stating that they were too hard on Obama. "it just wasn't fair"! The left is outraged because members of the left were too hard on a left-wing politician? I'm so confused. -------------------- |

I look at it like this....If someone can't handle some difficult questions in a debate, how in the world are they going to handle running an Administration? A debate is nothing compared to the issues and situations that a President will face. And you are whining about a few questions? Go change your diaper and get over it.
These people know the scruitny that is involved with Presidental elections. Quit dodging questions that you find uncomfortable and step up to the plate and be forthright with the American people. Stop whining and at least remotely act like someone who is capable of being President. -------------------- The Constitution was not intended to limit the power of the people. It was intended to limit the power of the government.

Shocking that it was you that started this thread Hey, this debate will look like a stroll in the park, compared to what is coming at him. Hillary has had to take it easy on him, as she does not want to alienate any of his supporters, should she be the nominee. Painfull as it is to you, you really didn't think that Obama's associations were not going to be brought up, did you? Every Presidential candidate is run through a micro-scope. Apparently, Obama didn't realise that before he signed on. Otherwise he would have very carefully watched who he was hanging around with. This post has been edited by Orea: Apr 19 2008, 09:28 PM |

If I were to run for President I would make DARN sure my closet was clean before I even attempted to join that circus!

I don't think there's really anyone who's closet is ever "clean" enough to stand up to the kind of scrutiny that candidates are put under during an election. It just boils down to what kind of dirty linen you care to tolerate in ones closet. We all have our limits and that's as it should be.
I think it's going to be a very"long, heated" summer folks until this is brought to an end. Unfortunately it's the ending that could scare the bejeebes out of me. Hang in there for the next chapter in the drama folks and hope we all come out of this without killing each other off!!! -------------------- Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.~~

This is not painfull to me because Obama has been fantastic at dealing with these. Those "bitter" comments, if you happened to watch the genius of Bill Maher has obviously not only not hurt him in Pennslyvania, but has actually been mildly helpful since they are looking through his comments. I've said it before and I'll put my house up on it now, whether you like it or not Barack will be the next Prez, you just only write threads bashing him cause I guess there is nothing positive to say about the man. |

Yeah,
I bash Obama because he is "bashable". As is Hillary Clinton and as is McCain. In fact, either running or being President automatically puts a person in the "bash me" column. Of course, we can praise them, too, if they ever do something praisworthy. Hey, it could happen! -------------------- |

This election is definatly going to improve the world's view of us. NOT! As far as the world is concerned, ANYTHING is better than Bush, plus world polls, specifically in Europe, say Obama would give them a much more favorable perception. Cmon now, say what you and most others on this board that hate Obama want, but don't bring the world into it cause they don't think, at all, the way you do and I can tell you that from experience cause there isn't a continent(except Antartica) I haven't been on. Gerhard Schroeder, the former Prez/Chancellor of Germany told me to my face in the summer of 2006 that they absolutely adore Obama so don't speak for the world |

Gerhard Schroeder, the former Prez/Chancellor of Germany told me to my face in the summer of 2006 that they absolutely adore Obama so don't speak for the world I don't hate Obama. He actually seems like a nice guy. My problem with him is basic political philosophy and ideology. Lets be honest, based on his political leanings and the statements he has made, Obama has the tendency to be a socialist. He favors programs that expand the size and scope of the federal government, he favors programs that increase the tax burden on the country, and he favors programs that redistribute wealth. IMO, those things are damaging to our country and I will oppose anyone who believes in those things. Unlike the "genius" Maher and others like him, I can oppose someones political philosophy/ideology without hating that person. -------------------- The Constitution was not intended to limit the power of the people. As far as the world is concerned, ANYTHING is better than Bush, plus world polls, specifically in Europe, say Obama would give them a much more favorable perception. Actually, I believe while Bush was recently in Africa it was pointed out that many, if not most, African nations like the US and Bush. "The world" is very diverse, that's for sure. Further, anybody that believes that "ANYTHING is better than Bush" it expressing such a warped sense that I wouldn't give their opinion a second glance. It could be worse - don't let anyone every convince you otherwise. -------------------- |
