I think this is the coolest thing ever.
Synaesthesia People with this condition have some strange wiring in their brains that make it so their senses cross-over. If they smell something, they may feel something, hear something, taste something, it depends on what your specific condition is. I've read stories where a child playing the piano sees colors while he plays, and a man can tell whether or not the food is cooked properly based on how it feels in his hand (he gets the feeling of something round in his hand when chicken isn't cooked properly, and he feels something pointy when it is cooked right). A lot of these people say that even given the chance, they wouldn't give it up. I just think it's an interesting concept to think about. Imagine being able to taste chocolate by just reading a word. All the taste with no calories! I think we're pretty close to being able to do stuff like this with modern technology. This would certainly make life interesting, wouldn't it? |

Holy Moly!
I didn't know such a study existed. I thought I was suffering from something else - like brain damage.... ha ha ha See my thread here? http://www.thoughtvent.com/forums/Anyone-h...-such-t213.html I have colors and sounds also. I often cannot really define such for others to understand. I guess I should take more notes? I don't have the smell sensations though, as I recall. -------------------- The only easy day was yesterday....

Here's probably a better link.
Wikipedia-synaesthesia Synaesthesia isn't just getting a funny feeling that turns out to be true. It's when your senses are mixed. If you hear a trumpet, you will see the color red. That's every time you hear a trumpet. In that instance, something is happening in your brain with your neurons that affect your hearing and sight. Or maybe you smell something, or see something, or feel something. It's an involuntary, constant, response. And it isn't really that paranormal, because there are many documented cases of it around the world. If this is true for you Conundrum, maybe you should check it out. You never know.
