I bet if there was ever a real success in Iraq, the media would report on it. A lower death count one month doesn't make success. Until Iraq is a real independent country again, and our soldiers aren't walking around waiting to find IEDs, then there has been no progress to speak of since Saddam was dethroned.

I have to agree. As far as the media coverage goes, I think Vietnam being the "dinner TV show" it was for awhile really changed the way the military/media get us information.

There have been many success - the MSM either ignores them or puts them on the back pages.

"Until Iraq is a real independent country again" - you mean like when Saddam was in power?

Otherwise, what you've described is close to "total" success, and I'd sure like to see it come about as well.

However, the MSM reports every little negative event in Iraq but it ignores the positive. I believe that was the point of this topic and I agree with that point.

You know, I've read reports on how the MSM actually affected the outcome of Vietnam. Apparently, if you look at the Tet Offensive statistics (which the MSM reported as a complete and terrible loss) we actually won that battle. We beat them back and suffered only a fraction of their losses, but since the reporters in Vietnam kept reporting the terrible damage and destruction inflicted on us that people started to believe it was an unwinnable war. That was a while ago that I read the report, so don't quote me exactly on it, but it is certainly interesting if it is true. It's probably happening again in Iraq.

I'm quite certain if there had been reporters on the ground during WWI and WWII (our two successes) those wars would have been miserable failures as well.

The MSM is so full of bleeding hearts, and left wing crybabies.

WAR IS HELL - there is no nice way to put it. I wish we could all turn back the clock to the 50's when everyone lived in relative comfort not concerning themselves in everyday world affairs. However that day is gone and we (rightly) are conserned about world affairs.

The men and Women in Iraq are doing a wonderful job! They are well liked in the areas they have cleaned out. Cities are getting on with their lives and buying and selling as going on in the street markets again.

We should be proud of them.

If you want a good example of the MSM censored2.gif ing up the wars - Look at what just happened to Prince Harry. Here was a young man that felt it was his moral obligation to be involved in the war effort. After finally gaining the permission of his grandmum, off he went to do his duty. He was under a media blackout for his safety and the men and women with him, and the British media understood this but an (sorry Doug) Australian news source desided to out him and he had to be pulled back.

Is that right - to report a story and damn the consequences?

Hi Vicki,

Our casulties have been low for the last 5 months. In fact, they have been lower than any 5 month period I can see since we went in there.

I NEVER said Anything about Chaney.

Here I'll say something about him. He can't shoot right!

I don't understand -

you defend the MSM by attacking Libby and Cheney?

As far as I can tell, they do not own or govern what the MSM says or does.

I'm still waiting for all the "Cheney wants to rule the world" folks to explain why he isn't running for President.

Maybe it's because he really didn't want to rule the world?
