I'd be listening to a lot more if only I could figure out how to have a 'radio' as part of my computer! Seems like a little thing, I know, but baffled I remain smile.gif

Play CD's nearly constantly though - right now, listening to some 'oldies' that a friend put together for me and eep, I'm feeling old!

Hi Mara - guess we're lucky in Aussieland - we can get just about any radio (and t.v. shows) through our computers and even have radio playing while working the 'puter through other areas..... on the "oldies" scene, I just blew the dust from a load of old and much-loved vynils and have wallowed in the Seekers, Platters, Guy Mitchell, John Denver, Dudley Moore, some of the swing masters, Glenn Milller, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Tommy Dorsey et. etc. etc. not forgetting Sarah Vaughan, Billie /Holliday, and more recently Miles Davis "Kinda Blue" - there's tons more but you know what I mean... clapping.gif Don't feel old ... just mellow, mature, and superior (you're allowed!!) crazy.gif hysterical.gif

Hi Mark - have tried many time to get Pandora, but sadly, licencing restrictions confine their service to the USA - they have a very friendly notice for Aussie wannabesubscribers advising that as and when things change they'll contact us. Nice attitude!. Do you have any other links that might get USA radio channels that are open to Australia?? would appreciate hearing... whistling.gif I'm posting this in this thread, rather than a p.m. as it may be other posters could have suggestions?? dry.gif

I have a few other links I haven't tried yet. I'll have to find where I put them. Because of a recent copyright ruling, the smaller stations can't afford to stay online. Here's 2 others I use but you might have the same problems

Yes, thank you to both for the info!

Now, try not to laugh to hard but it's not the source of the music that has me stumped as much as how on earth does one listen to it on the computer. As in ... special hardware or software or something? I have 'Windows Media Player' and have pushed all it's buttons but alas, no music other than that I already have in my computer or on CDs.

Hanging my head in embarassment over not knowing this basic stuff...

Mara - first, I ain't laughing!!! As the major claimant to "computer moron" title I don't laugh at anyone for anything computer related..... crazy.gif Now, I spose it'll work the same for you, just use any the links Mark has kindly given us and somewhere on their page will be "listen" or something similar - just hit and and follow the prompts (that's how I came to get my ABC connections - they spelt it out in the prompts, complete with pictures, or I'd still be music-less!!)
Hope it helps thumbup2.gif

I like to listen to "talkback" radio. Mainly the ABC. 702 Sydney.
Here's the link.
http://www.abc.net.au/streaming/702/702stream.asx

It says it broadcasts worldwide so should be available anywhere.

I don't totally understand how different audio and video codecs and files work on different players. I'm not sure exactly how Pandora works, but it doesn't use Windows Media Player. You simply log in and make sure your speakers aren't muted, also double check the volume slide on the webpage and off you go

The band "Disturbed". I was introduced to them by my good friend and roommate several months ago. No matter how many times I listen to an album, it never gets old. My favorite album is "Ten-Thousand Fists", but I like all of them.

I will also occasionally listen to "Breaking Benjamin", "Linkin Park", and "Weird Al".

Hmm, Breaking Benjamin is pretty good.

Right now I'm listening to.. Dark Tranquillity - Through Smudged Lenses

A brief reflection
It sets the soul apart
No selection
It tears our world apart
These walls are protecting us
Burn them to the ground
This haven of refuge
Burn it to the ground
So smudge the lens a little
Muffle the voice
Phase out of sound a while
And let it go
