There are some things that I like about Mr. Obama, but the fact that he says wearing a US Flag lapel pin sends the wrong signal is something I don't like. I could never vote for a person that would not be proud to display the flag of the country that they represented. The signal Barack needs to send is one distancing himself from his Muslim background.

Personally, I think having a Muslim background could be to his advantage.

Middle Eastern countries would probably be more willing to work with him over Bush because of his Muslim background. It would be interesting to see if it does have any effect in the Middle East.

Maybe he should move to the Middle East and run for office there. People like yourself forget this President should be representing the people from our Country the U.S. Not Muslims

For the last time, He's NOT Muslim. Wow, how long does it take to drive that point home

When I choose who is representing me, I don't base it on religion. (Oh, and even then, he is my religion. I believe Obama converted to Catholocism? in his teenage years, he isn't still Muslim.)

"People like yourself" base representation on the wrong things.

I know he says he's not Muslim now. But he was definitely brought up Muslim, which is why I said Muslim background. My main point is about him not respecting the US Flag.

I remember the incident, but not the exact details. I do remember thinking he had respectable principles as to why he did what he did. Would someone please remind me exactly what principle he was trying to emulate?

I think some links to support this event would be helpful.

Barack Obama "officially" belongs to the United Church of Christ in Chicago. Rev. Dr. Jeremiah
Wright Jr. This guy is a flat out racist. This guy's church gave Louis Farrakhan the "Dr. Jeremiah
Wright Jr." award.

Google "Trinity United Church of Christ" and read his talking points--make up your own mind!

OBAMA not wearing a pin in itself doesn't bother me, but his explanation for not wearing does.

Who cares if he wears a flag pin or not?
Is someone who wears a flag pin more patriotic than someone who doesn't?
Patriotism IS NOT defined by what one does or does not wear. It's defined by ACTIONS.

Now, for those of you who need reminder

Obama won't wear U.S. flag pin-

He was not brought up Muslim. He lived with his MOTHER who was a devout CHRISTIAN from Kansas. His parents met in Hawaii where he was born, but his father moved back to Kenya when he was very young. He then moved to Indonesia and went to a Christian private school. He is Methodist/Baptist. Read his first book and you'll understand.

And why the heck do you care about his religion?? It seems like only in America does one's personel religious choice become a priority in determining whether or not he/she can lead? Not something I will ever understand

Obama belongs to the Trinity United Church of Christ and that's not a Methodist/Babtist as you
say. I am a Babtist, and there are differences between Methodist and Babtist. Theres no such
thing as a Methodist/Babtist, but your right his religon shouldn't be an issue in the election. Mitt Romney
has been under more fire than Obama for being Mormon.

Him not wearing a flag, so what, that's fine, his explanation is very suspect. He said he is going
to stop wearing a flag pin and tell people what he thinks will make this country great and that will
be a testament to his patriotism??

He did not need to explain his wardrobe accessories [flag pin], but he did and his explanation
is what doesn't sound good.

For me the bottom line is he's not qualified to be president of this country and I did not come
to this conclusion because of his flag pin.

Everyone should look at the issues and not what he's wearing-His political stance tells you
all you need to know!

Thats what's great about this country, you have a right to your opinion as do I. And my opinion is that there are very subtle differences between almost all Protestant Religions including Methodist and Baptist, and that Barack is by far the best candidate to lead this country(with the exception of Tim Tebow of course!)
