I live in a little podunk town in Tennessee. Honest, we have 2, count them 2, stop lights - one block apart and they change at the same time. Gotta go 30 miles to go to McDonalds (that may be a good thing).

However we have 3 interesting things to see. The Tennessee River/Kentucky Lake (Ooo a river) whistling.gif

The Fort Donaldson Battle Ground Not a proud moment in the South

The Well's Creek Basin (meteor strike)Best in the State

My Home Town

Even though there are more cows than people here hysterical.gif its home

Anyone interested in sharing where they're from?

Two stoplights a Burger king,Napa, Family Dollar, a couple of banks a local dentist and a Piggly Wiggly grocery store.

Oh and we own most of the cows in ware shoals.

Goochland, VA
One stoplight, Food Lion, and a new addition (very exciting) a Hardees! One subway. The closest big town/city is "Short Pump" which is a half-hour away...

Nice to meet people other than me who live in little bitty towns - I was raised just outside St. Louis, won't go back to the city (if I can help it). thumbup2.gif

The first house we were looking to buy, in a unincorporated area outside of St Chrles Mo, which is outside St. Louis, Didn't even have its own Zip code at the time. But we found markings from the gangs, why they wanted that piece of territory I'll never know. We didn't want to raise our baby daughter there so we came here. My Husband is from here originally. Been here ever since.

Just reading these posts makes me smile as 'itty bitty towns' surely must take preference in so many ways over a bustling, busy and often crime-ridden city. Yup, part of me envies all of you - gentle sigh.

Guess most of you folks will not know it, but Esher in Surrey, England is my town. It's got some lovely and expansive woodland walks all around, has a racecourse, Sandown Park, and the population is 55,000. It's only 15 miles from London and 4 miles from an absolutely superb shopping centre at Kingston upon Thames a historic town where Saxon kings were crowned.

Edit addition: Mara, what happened to the cute blue birdies?

Truly, not as bad as you think. I know that Mr. Bush is not popular with quite a lot of my countrymen, which may lead Americans to believe that they are disliked. I however do not find him so terrible, and again, many here would agree. (I do not wish to discuss why I do not find him terrible). I do not know quite what the consensus would be, but it would be close, maybe even 50:50.

Regardless of all of that, I believe Americans are still liked here by a vast majority. Few forget what occured 65 years ago.

Anti-Americanism may be extant in some other European countries, (and maybe always been to some extent), I cannot vouch for that. I find little animosity in England towards you folk, I suppose you are simply too much like us. We have too much in common to be enemies again after 200 years, and let's face it, you are likeable.
