I have seen many people complain that they can't always go to work because they have a kid and they have to look after them. They can't get all their schoolwork done in college, or even high school, because they have a kid. Complaining they are doing poor financially because they have a kid. So my question is simple: Why did you have a kid!? All these people trying to raise a family while balancing work, school, and a dwindling money supply, all asking for sympathy and help. I have no sympathy for people who do not think about the consequences before they take an action. If you can barely support yourself, what makes you think you should have a kid too.

I understand in rare cases, a couple are doing well financially, and so decide they are ready for a kid, but then something unexpected happens. But I shouldn't even be aware of these problems in a college environment. Simply, if you aren't out of college and don't have a steady job, don't have a kid, ever. It is difficult to take care of a kid while in college, or when you don't have a decent enough job that you can afford it. There are too many irresponsible young adults, and these people need to get a clue about how to properly have a family.

I have to agree as while it may not be true in all cases, it's surely true that many get pregnant for all the wrong reasons. And it is, usually without fail, the little one that does the true suffering.

I understand the 'getting caught' and even how horribly difficult it must be to try raising a child with massive financial worries - but the ones I have no sympathy for are those like the woman who sees the same family doctor we do. Heaven help anyone who spends time in the waiting room with her as she can't wait to tell everyone how stingy Welfare is ... and how mean the doctor is to not let her have another abortion (she's had 4!!!) in addition to the 6 little ones that she's had from 6 different fathers who's names she isn't too sure of - and she's in her mid-30's. Huge sigh.

I'm sorry for the children and darn near nearly as sorry that others work so hard to pay taxes that go to support a lump like this woman and apparently people like her are far from an isolated case.

On the other hand, as you mentioned, there are those who truly need financial help and our system doesn't seem geared to giving them more than the bare minimum - must be a nightmare!

I'm appalled by this woman you speak of, and I feel sorry for her kids. I think promiscuity needs to get OUT of fashion.
