Avenged Sevenfold (A7X) released their 4th Album 10/30/2007. It was a fairly quite release, mainly due to that the first single off of the album "Critical Acclaim" literally gives the Anti war movement the finger.
QUOTE ('Critical Acclaim-A7X') ...so how does it feel to know that someone's kid in the heart of America has blood on his hands, fighting to defend your rights so you can maintain a lifestyle that insults his family's very existance, Well, were I'm from we have a special salute that we aim high in the air, towards all those pompous ~edit~ who spend their days pointing fingers It's the most political song they've ever done. A lot of "fans" are saying that A7X has sold out since M. Shadows isn't screaming anymore (not since vocal chord surgery in the aftermath of the "Waking the Fallen" album) but frankly the format is still the same musically and lyrically. If you've heard "Waking the Fallen" and "Sounding the Seventh Trumpet" you'll be accustomed to the trumpets, violins, and pianos that make a return after being absent for "City of Evil". Nothing has really changed they've just moved from the Metalcore genre to actual Heavy Metal which is repectable considering they havent changed to musical style really. 7 of 8 in my Exaile player. I really enjoy their stuff. These guys are the next Metallica or Pantera. They are redefining Heavy metal as we speak. -------------------- ![]() Speak softly and carry a weighted baseball bat. A7X are NOT Heavy metal, or even Metal, and never will be. At most, they are Metalcore, but barely even that.
This is my honest opinion, but A7X has taken grasp of many people in Middle School and occasionally High school (not so much in my HS) who claim to be "Metal Fans" because they listen to a band that has 1 song with screaming vocals in it. Again, they are NOT Heavy metal. End A7X is crap rant |

A7X are NOT Heavy metal, or even Metal, and never will be. At most, they are Metalcore, but barely even that. .... listen to a band that has 1 song with screaming vocals in it. Again, they are NOT Heavy metal. Please refer to the "Sounding the Seventh Trumpet" and "Waking the Fallen" albums if screaming is your thing or just go buy some Lamb of God (which isnt Heavy Metal it's Death Metal) Heavy Metal originally refered to Led Zeppelin and the likes not that we'd consider them as such today. So this album was a little softer than the last 3 but if we said all bands who produced softer than normal albums with singing vs distorted vocals or screaming then we can count Metallica, Megadeath, Pantera, Soulfly, Black Sabbath, and just about every corner stone of the entire heavy metal scene out. BTW Metalcore is known for screaming vocals, Heavy Metal is known for its use of Dark imagery over distorted guitars and heavy drums and Bass lines -------------------- ![]() Speak softly and carry a weighted baseball bat.
