These things are so terrible. What can be done to prevent such. Why are these kids so full of hate and violence.

I suppose there is something to the concept that the further we get from accepting personal responsibility and the more we expect that someone else will do things for us, the more hate and violence builds up in us.

Just a thought.

Judging by the news report i read its mainly a case of bad parenting. Bu I dont trust that report as far as I can throw it with this line in the center of it

Newspaper Journalists, will print any rubbish to make a good Story, and are pretty short on Ethics, most of the time.IM0.
The fact remains this Tragedy did occur, and to me, the warning signs were not heeded. These Shootings seem to be getting more regular, and I wonder if the publicity, and media coverage about these shootings should be kept to a minimum,in case these are starting a Copy Cat trend.

It's horrible to even think but perhaps soon all schools shouldhave metal dectectors, etc just to assure the safety of innocent children. I simply cannot - literally cannot - get my mind around why anyone wants to kill another if it's not in self-defense. Huge, huge bewildered sigh.

That is incorrect - children do not have that right, nor do felons.

I'm not a "gun advocate" so I honestly don't know what other restrictions there are.

I really should word my post's better crazy.gif
But i am sure you get the gist of what i mean
In england if i wanted a gun it would have to be from the black market
Not from a store with a few days waiting period and to me thats the problem
at the end of the day it's not the wild west anymore.
The only reason gun crime is rife is because people with no firearm experience can buy a gun.
And the more times this sort of thing happens the more people will arm themselves.
And there lies the problem

Rifles and shotguns can be purchased at the age of 18 with a 3 day waiting period and a background check.
Hand Guns and Legal Assault Rifles(Semi Auto AK-47, Semi Auto AR-15, ect) are allowed at the age of 21 (but this doesnt stop people from buying and trading them, which is perfectly legal since, at least in Virginia, Semi Auto Assault rifles are not required to be registered) most states now require registration for Handguns and that people take a gun Safety class and get a Handgun permit before buying and then wait a 7 day waiting period. Also the price of a Hand gun is excessively today and buying a good one is next to impossible for under $600USD since Colt quit selling to the public.

Most likely these were black market guns as they are cheaper by 50-75% and more readily available to teenagers. Laws do need to change but there will have to be give and take (ie loosening restrictions on hunting rifles and ammo while tightening those on Handguns <<<Where IMHO the problem exists)

Blackspyer wanders off to go fire his AK-47 in the Air... Perhaps a side topic should be made for this discussion?

A side topic sounds great to me - hint, hint and huge gentle smile.

For I'm bewildered why a hand gun would require registration and a semi-automatic weapon does not. And curious ... if a gun is used for killing other humans (other than in self-defense) is the person who sold them the gun or owner (such as parent) criminally or civilly liable, as well?
