I think this latest push and new targets of +$700 are being fueled by the G-Phone ( Google Phone )info. It looks very promising and the phones will probably be free. A global phone service of internet and not tied down to a desk scenario can be a major development. Taiwan's HTC Corp. is the phone's likely manufacturer.

If the google phone can work with just free internet anywhere just for viewing adds on the side or for 10 seconds every 20 minutes I am fine with it.
Or if they plan to offer free internet and free cell service or they may do just free internet and you could use skype or google talk to call people. Whatever they do its going to be neat.
