I often go out to dinner, order a bottle(s) of wine, and find I love the choice. I always say I will write the name down and try to find it for a 1/4 of the price, but ultimately I forget and do not bother.

Anyone do anything to help them remember a good bottle? Save the cork (not always adequate)? Save the label?

Phone camera shot of the bottle label? Then upload to the wine list on the PC?

it's very rare for me to find any bottle of wine i buy in a restaurant at the supermarket ,i tend to buy my wine online now.
must say i only really drink rioja(white or red)when at a restaraunt and tend to find they are all pretty much the same.however as for remembering the name, i always find telling the wife is the way to go as women never forget anything wink.gif

What I do and sometimes it helps is get a good look at the bottle. Color, shape, label and I look at back for country of origin. then at the store I go to wines of say "Chile" and try to recognize the bottle. It works sometimes, may have to go to a store or two but i find it.

I do that when I am at friends, or write a note on my cell with the name of the wine and the type.
I prefer good wines and dont mind paying more for them as long as they are good, so I am quite picky. I do admit, that I forget to make note of good choices at times though lol.
