I crochet. It's fun to do and easy and doesn't require alot of remembering and counting. I like to make the granny squares the most. I have only made a couple afghans. One for my niece which took about a year for me to do and the other I made for my daughter which took almost 2 years to complete. I actually have a pic of the afghan I made for my daughter here..

Well Ms Pandora that's some fine looking work. bet it's as warm as it colors. my mom also made a lot of crocheted articles. Seems to be another dying art. Glad to see some one with skilled hands.

Great colours - must take forever to create? Have a true affection for your art - my mom crotched a 'cupcake' pin cushion for me shortly before she died and I still find it odd that it 'disappeared' from her estate.
Anyway, congratulations on a great skill, Pandora! |

It's a beautiful afhgan Pandora. I haven't croched anything in years but I love to do it. I would need to get back in the swing of it though. I had made what I thought was a really nice double stitch afhgan a number of years back, my first to be exact, but I got complaints that it wasn't big enough. Now this was a standard size afhgan but there seemed to be one particular person that wanted it big enough to cover from chin to toe. I got back to work on it and fixed it right up, the smart butt ended up with a bedspread!!!
I think I'll see about brushing up and starting something again, you've given me the bug now. -------------------- Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.~~

That's a gorgeous afghan Pandora.
I too enjoy crocheting. My mom never did learn (she preferred knitting) and my grandmother ended up with arthritis so bad that she couldn't hold the hook anymore. So I taught myself how to crochet. Now that both my mom and grandmother are gone, I am thankful that the art of crochet will not be lost to my girls. I'll be able to teach them. On of the easiest things I make is a pot scrubber made from rug yarn. Takes about half an hour to complete and they are great little scrubbers. Safe for Teflon pans and such, machine washable, and very durable. I've also made a baby blanket. Though I only used the shell stitch it still took me about a month. I thought about going for a table cloth. I have one square finished. Since I am still very new to crochet, I find table clothes very difficult. perhaps if I stick with it, I might get it finished by the time one of my daughters (ages 14 and 9) get married |

I'm half way through an afgan for my husband, its a combination of royal and dark blue. I hope to finish it soon - so does he.

THank you for the compliments everyone. Yes it did take a long time to make that afghan and I have to admit.. I do not have the heart to do it again. My wrists quake at the idea of 2 years of work. LOL I justdon't have the leisure time I once did. I made a couple baby blankets with that same patter. One was yellow and white and the other was black, white and other colors. I had heard that babies differentiate between light and dark more than color so I made my gifts a little different. LOL
I am not sure if it is visible in the pic but I make my granny squares a bit different in that I add a row of single stitch around each one. That is what took me the longest to complete. I found also I do not like to make fringe. |
