As silly as it sounds, this is my dream car. That color and everything (though, I could settle without a convertable). I want a car I like, not that's incredibly expensive. If I wanted that, I'd get a Bentley. tongue.gif

first I don't think I would ever actually buy my dream car unless I could aford to buy a small track to drive it on (Lime Rock, Daytona , you get my "drift") as who wants to be stuck in traffic in a supercar ? (and you can't out run radio)

My husband and son restore older Mustangs as a hobby. ( Shelby GT '65 or '66 being the favorite) The first one is mine, and the second one belongs to my son.

I think my son likes to restore them because of his "love" of car shows !! Hmmm.

This is the only car that The Colonel has driven. The Colonel, a keen motorcyclist, only holds an English motorcycle license, (my wife drives). But under English law I am entitled to drive a car with three wheels, classed as a tricycle. In 1990 I bought a Reliant Robin Estate, yellow like the one pictured.

When I went to pick it up from the dealer, (second hand), some thirty miles from home, I had never driven a car in my life, apart from a couple of quick lessons my brother gave me before I collected my new beast. I got into the car and promptly kangarooed for the first couple of miles and to this day do not know how I got home safely.

However, in the confines of the quiet lanes around my late Father's house, I managed to improve. I never felt quite safe, however, driving a car, (three wheels or no), I am much more at home on two wheels and after two years I sold the 'Robin' to the same dealer for £500. He'd charged me £1400 for it, and I had spent a lot of money on extras and improvements. Second-hand car dealers, eh? (The first thing he did was lift off the radiator cap and pretend to taste oil in the water! blink.gif ). Unfortunately I wanted to sell it quick, but that's another story that involves two wheels.

Hardly a dream car, but it was mine and I don't think I'll ever drive another car. A combination is about as far I'd go towards four wheels now.

We have a number of Cobras, here in OZ.This Sports car shape is what, in my opinion,a true sports car should look like.
I'm positive this shape will never go out of Fashion.Never been able to get my hands on one here.
Thanks 'dc3' for the link. thumbup2.gif

I've always wanted one as well , except I would want the 427 SC version smile.gif .I can remember seeing a original for sale about 10 years ago, only wanted 250k for it, a steal if you consider what Caroll Shelbys personal CSX3015 went for at Barrett-Jackson (bottom of page). Of all the repros I like the Factory Fives Racing versions my self, Roadster or '65 Coupe ,not that I'll be able to afford one any time soon.

Love the Biarritz and Shelby, but I prefer he 69' Dodge Daytona and here are few reasons;

"One of the more interesting chapters in technological history was the 1969 Dodge Daytona. This vehicle had a drag coefficient (cd) of just 0.28, better than most cars made today. It would have produced even less drag, if it weren't for the tall spoiler (added to keep the rear wheels on the ground at high speeds). But, despite its 200 mph speed record (set by Buddy Baker on March 24, 1970, at 200.447 mph around Talladega), the car didn't sell well at some dealerships because people thought the aero look was ugly!

Compare the Daytona with some modern cars. The $55,000 Viper, with its aerodynamic shape, has a cd of over .5; the 1994 Plymouth Duster had a cd of .42. ; the mid-1990s Eagle Talon had a cd of .36. Even the sleek Eagle Vision had a drag of .31.

The Daytona's rear wheels tended to lose their traction, until that massive spoiler was put on, because it carried a standard 440 cubic inch, 375-hp engine. The optional powerplant was the fabled 426 Hemi, a 425-hp (plus) monster designed for racing."

And of course, I want the Hemi option.

Ah Colonel - you shouldn't have gone back to the dealer - I'm sure you would have got a better price from the "Mr. Bean" team whistling.gif - the times that he wrecked the poor other driver's car they probably replaced it every second series!!!! hysterical.gif
