Any one enjoy a good Sake hot or cold
I'd recommend Gorgeous bird from True Sake an American brewed yet as good as some of the best Japanese. About $34 USD |

When ever I get Sake I have to travel to the other side of the county to this expensive Japanese Steak House which sells a home brew. Very good, only place with in 25 miles that sells it unless I'm looking on the wrong self at the liquor store (State run no less)

Try some cold Sake, really good. you can order the one I mentioned online.
I made real good friends with the sushi chef at a local place. He taught me so much about Japan and food. We are close enough that one day I went Trout fishing and brought him a 2 1/2 lb. Rainbow. he brought it back out sashimi 'd , it was great. |

Working for a Japanese mega carrier, I have tried sake before and actually do like to drink it.
Tend to order it once in a while when at a japanese / asian restaurant. -------------------- My Website | My Blog (mostly english)

It certainly goes well with most ,if not all Japanese food. Most of the steakhouses cook with it. That also makes it an excellent choice to compliment the dinner.

Hey DE, this is kind of tough to answer. Are you sure you're at least 21??
It is rice wine. Basically of 2 schools, seved hot or chilled. These are also 2 different wines. I would venture though the hot variety resembles a Port wine. Whereas the chilled a white wine as there are as many varieties of chilled Sake as there are white wines. Chilled Sake is really the newer beverage as modern tech has made it possible to produce a quality chillable version. I prefer the chilled now, tho' I first experienced hot. I still like the hot especislly at a Japanese steak house. But if I'm going to have just sushi, sashimi or cooked fish I now enjoy a chilled bottle. A few pointers on drinking it. Hot will hit you fast as it is served a bit above body temp, about 100-104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 to 45 degrees Celsius). Ginjo, should be chilled a bit while Junmai is better near room temp. All Sake's though (in my opinion) need to be finished within several hours of opening or discarded. They just don't hold up for days after opening. I find though that Sake goes well with all meals except spaghetti and meatballs or oatmeal. |

I don't like it but just about anything is drinkable if poured over ice cubes - huge grin! And let's face it, for the most part, drinking any kind of alchohol will only improve the taste of oatmeal

QUOTE Blimey, so so..my staple diet of spaghetti meatballs and oatmeal is a no no with saki... ...better take it back to the shop then...doh QUOTE And let's face it, for the most part, drinking any kind of alchohol will only improve the taste of oatmeal Now you've got it!! Perhaps that's the ticket dump the sake in the oatmeal and pour over the pasta (skip the sauce). Wait a minute or is that hitting the sauce ?? |
