I've had some unexplainable premonitions at times.
I'll give a simple example. I've done a lot of driving over many years. I owned/operated a courier - delivery business for almost a decade. In that time frame alone, I had instances, for what ever reason, I got a feeling something wasn't quit right, and slowed way down on the highway. Several times to find a collision had occurred only a short distance ahead of me. Once, long ago, while serving in the military, I decided to skip breakfast one Sunday morning. That decision probably saved my life. I still don't why I made that decision. (BTW - I'm not one to skip many meals.) What have any of you experienced? In 1995 here in Sydney, I had a Carpet and Lounge Cleaning Co,and was on the roads here daily. One Day in a Suburb, going down this narrow Street, with cars parked all the way up both sides, for some unexplained reason,I jammed on the Brakes. At that instant a child approximately 4yrs old, lying belly down on a Skatebord came out of a driveway straight in front of my Van.He was that close that he disappeared completely out of sight, for a moment then out the other side.It was impossible to have seen him for the cars parked and the bushes on the Street. To this Day, I don't know what made me jam on the Brakes,at that moment.

We may never really 'understand' these things - at least not as of right now - but they are quite remarkable!
For myself, we were coming home on the freeway one evening and the fog was settling in, although traffic persisted on zipping right along. No plausible reason but I had this huge huge huge urge to get off the freeway immediately! Poor husband was driving and asked if I meant the shoulder and I yelled, 'No!, right off the road" - and what a sweet person he is to not react when I grabbed the wheel and we shot right off the road, across the shoulder and into a lumpy field. (As odd as this sounds, even a ditch or worse would have been preferable to staying on the freeway - that's how strong this 'feeling' was). And seconds later, the car that was right behind us smacked into the rear end of a truck in front (which we couldn't see either) - and the multi-car collisions started - horrible to hear! |

I often times go on walks with my best friend because he only lives around the block from me. One time we were walking on a street we often walk on and we usually walk in teh road, just because we feel like it. One time we were walking and I just got a feeling and i grabbed him and we went on the sidewalk and a few seconds after a drunk driver came speeding down the road and smashed into the parked car we were walking by. I don't know why I got the feeling and he didnt, but whatever it was, it saved our lives.

I wish that we truly understood the things we still don't understand - if that makes any sense - gentle grin.
So many people still seem to poo-poo any notion of odd things happening yet, the usually laughable programs on tv about things like this aside, odd things do happen and continue to happen. For instance, at the risk of sounding like a complete nutter here, my mother was 'odd' in certain respects. A very respectable and Christian lady yet she would have dreams about people dying - and without fail, within a week of the dream the person always died. No, she didn't make them die! And there isn't a way to explain it, I guess - but I was always glad she didn't have that type of dream about me - eek and grin! |

Another example happened a few minutes ago, actually. My dog was resting on his rug and for no reason he got up and walked over to me, than right after he put his head on my lap the rubberband from the bag i was opening snaped and whipped the wall where he was just a few seconds earlier. This might be cooincidence and i might be a little paranoid, but it got my attention for sure. Mabye he just wanted food...

This is an interesting topic and sort of a personal one.. normally I might skip this over as things that have happened to me are a bit.. scary and personal. Idon't know for sure what they were except to call them premonitions. Well.. on two occasions I have had premonitions that someone was going to pass over. The first time was at a party and I was talking to this kid I knew through the years from school and whatever, he used to ride my bus. Well we were just talking and as I was looking at him.. I realized I was seeing the bones in his face.. like a developing picture I saw the bones in his face rising to the surface... here he is talking to me and Im like... wanting to run away and cry. I just sort of went my way.. I didn't know what it meant for sure, but I knew it sure wasn't good. About 3 months later I heard the scanner go off and I knew.. that was him. He was dead. He was killed in a drunk driving accident. The driver of the car he was in
was driving drunk and hit a huge Maple tree. The other time was a girl I knew.. long story short.. I saw her one day as I was walking with my kids, I had stopped at her inlaws and she was there. When she came to the door I was instantly struck by how she looked. I didn't like how she looked. Her eyes weren't right. Shadowy is the only way I can describe it. I expressed worry to her and I asked her to please be careful. 2 months later she was killed in an accident.. in the fog the driver of the car she was in went of the road.. well she was killed instantly. I don't see that anymore. I don't watch for it or try to look too close at peoples faces alot of the time for fear of what I might see there. Damn but I hope that never happens again. I just don't know what to DO. The first time it happened I felt really bad when I found out he died and I felt I should have done something but I didn't understand what had happened until it was too late. I couldn't interpret what I saw.. The second time I tried but she didn't hear me. I just am not sure if I am supposed to.. interfere. I just don't know. My mother tells me my father's mother was psychic. Whenever she needed help she would always come to her. Bringing some food or money or just to visit. Even though she was terrified of bridges she would still come. You couldn't get to our house from her house without having to cross one. But she always knew when she was needed, even though my mother never said anything. Mom says I am alot like my grandmother. I don't know? There have been other things too that I can't explain well in type. Would take a long time to type it out.. but I can't really go there. |

It must be hell, Pandora. I have no reason to doubt you as this world is filled with so many things few, if any, of us really understand. But how hard it must be.

I live in a very haunted part of the UK .....Norfolk
We have so many unexplained sightings and events that books have been written ..as well as having the headless ghost of Anne Boleyn Henry Eights wife not far in Blickling Hall.. This one experience happened to my husband not that long ago .... Where as i am open to the paranormal he most definitely did not believe until that night As usual he went to take the dog for a walk but returned about 45 mins later ... His face was pale and he was shaking .... I knew there was something wrong and he started to explain the event that had just happened He was walking along the promenade with our dog Amber when she started to behave really strange .. He looked in front and behind to see if he could see anything.. nothing there Continued walking and Amber was going crazy barking and growling almost as if she could sense something .. he bent down to stroke her and then looked up and saw a white figure in the distance.. It was there in front of him a young girl dressed all in white and she vanished in front of his eyes... 3 maybe 4 seconds Now it takes a lot to shake my husband being the macho man he is .... It made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up as he told me though He hasn't been to that section of the promenade again More spooky tales from Norfolk Uk coming up including the Spirit that decided it would be fun to annoy me at work |

My youngest daughter is "tuned in" more than I am. She also has dreams that are out of sight. I'm convinced those dreams cross realities. I can't describe them here because simple words don't do them justice. She's also experienced ghosts. Most of them have been non-threatening and she just let's it happen. It normal for her.
In my case, I have a little bit of it. If I'd nurture it, I'd probably be more in tune when these things happen, myself. The strongest premonition I remember happened when I was on a date with the man who later became my husband. We were teenagers then. We were driving back home and I simply said, "Mike is here." When we got to my house, sure enough, there he was. My brother had come home from Denver for a surprise visit. Nobody knew he was coming, not even Mom. The house I'm in now has or had a ghost. I haven't seen him again for a couple of years though. But several times, especially when I'd be here in the office late at night on the computer, I'd get the sense of someone walking down the hall. Out of the corner of my eye I'd see a fleeting shadow walking by. More than once I got up to see if it was my husband going to the kitchen for a snack or something like that. It wasn't him. He'd be sound asleep in bed. I always had the feeling he was an older man. The most vivid look I got at him happened in reverse. This time I was walking down the hall and looked into the office. He was leaning over the computer and I could make him out in the glow from the monitor. It looked like he was studying the computer (like, "What is that?") and he was about to press a key on the keyboard. He had a dark beard. And he looked like he was dressed like a farmer or pioneer. I never felt his presence as threatening in any way, but my husband didn't like the fact that he was here. Maybe that's why he hasn't been around anymore. As for everyday premonitions, I've had to train myself to listen to them. They're simple things. Like I'll get a flash about a glass falling off the table, or the coffee pot overflowing in the morning because I didn't get the basket of coffee grounds back under the pot correctly. (That makes an awful mess, by the way.) If I ignore something like that, sure enough my set of 8 glasses will be 7 within hours. So I've made a conscious effort to "listen" and go back and move that glass (or whatever it is) out of harm's way. This post has been edited by mommabear: Sep 21 2007, 08:09 AM |

Well, I don't know if I have had any paranormal experineces as such, but there is one experience I have had that is hard for me to explain.
It was pretty much a normal spring - summer day. Warm but not hot. There was no breeze that was flowing through the house. A few hours earlier I had finished tidying up the place. I was sitting on the lounge watching the TV, it was probably about 2:00pm. The front door was open and the sliding door (opposte the front door)leading out the backyard was also open. Just above but slightly infront of me, we have a ceiling fan. There is absolutely nothing else on the ceiling. Anyways I was sitting back watching TV when out of pheripheral vision I see something falling very gently about an arms length from me. I turned to have a look, to my amazement one single birds feather was floating down from the ceiling! It floated straight down not at angle. I have no idea where it came from, It definately didn't come from the ceiling fan, cause it would have floated on an 80/90 degree angle to end up where it did and as I said before there was no breeze whatsoever. I just haven't been able to explain it? -------------------- He's not the Messiah...He's just a very naughty boy! Monty Python - Life of Brian |

I am lucky to be alive. I say its a Miracle and Jesus was protecting me.
I was riding my honda fourtrax 300 with a friend. We have a local spring where we go to get a drink. It was used to bottle water in WW2 I was told. Well there are all kinds of rocks around the spring and steep hills. The spring is built with rock also and in a hole/valley in the woods. I decided that since my friend had ridden up this speed rock I could too as my atv was bigger than his. Well I rode up this rock and it bottomed out and I could not go up. I put it in reverse and then the atv stoop up straight and I fell i'd say about 8 feet to the ground and landed on my back. Now here I am on my back watching this 500lb atv slowly tip over my way. My friend is drinking in the spring 30 feet away. He said he heard a thump after this was all over and saw the whole thing. It happened within i'd say 5 seconds. Anyways the atv comes down on top of me. I only had time to put my feet up over my head to try and hold it up. It landed on me. But not until later did it hit me that man was that thing awful light. I may have not gotten all of the atv on me but I got the front half as it fell and yet it felt like dog food bag. How does something that weighs so much come down so slow, easy and feel so light. My friend ran over there after I called his name scared and he rolled it off of me. Just him rolling it bent the handlebars yet it falling on me did not hurt. -------------------- "The fool hath said in his heart, 'There is no God'" (Psalm 14:1; 53:1)

I've never had actually happened to me personally, but my mom told me a story from when I was little.
When I was very young, we used to live in a different neighborhood. Next door to us was an old couple. My mom and the elderly man used to speak to each other over the fence. One day, while my mom was outside, he rushed over. He was disheveled, and flustered. He began to talk to her. He told her that people from the other side (of town, my mom assumed) visited him today. (My mom at this point suspected he was a bit senile, so she didn't really believe him). He told her that they were from the other side, and that the other side was just like this side, except on the other side. He said that they told him they were going to take him with them soon. My mom told him it was nice that he had visitors and it sounded like fun. A few days later he died. I still get chills when I think about this story. It's the whole reason my mom believes in angels. |

Paranormal abilities can be very scary, by the manner in which the information is given (your example was seeing the bones rise to the surface), as well as the information itself. It's hard to know something and be unable to alter the outcome. Such is the burden with such knowledge. One must decide whether or not it is wise to take action. And then have to sit idly by if that action is not "heard." It is quite the personal dilemma. Do I nurture this ability? Can I handle being ignored if I try to prevent bad things from happening? Can I actively choose to take no action to prevent "bad things" from happening? Do I even have a right to try and alter "fate"? In matters of death... is a person's untimely death bad? Perhaps their early demise actually spared them from terrible anguish later on in life. Therefore... would my trying to warn them of their death actually cause more harm? Can I know of their death yet do nothing to warn them? Yet can I turn my back on my ability? It is part of me... can I shut off part of me? Will I always feel that part of me is missing? Will I regret closing off my link to the paranormal? Can I accept that my ability is a gift, but one that also carries a heavy price? I myself choose to nurture what I have been given. Though at times I do ignore messages/visions/premonitions that try to come through, simply because I do not have the energy at the time to properly deal with whatever is trying to come through. And I have had to answer such questions that I posed above, and have had to sit by and allow things to happen without interfering. How difficult that can be at times. And such guilt that comes with that. To see the pain that others go through, and to know that I could have at least tried to prevent it, but I choose not to for whatever reason. And then there is the anger at being ignored. To give warning and have it shunned. Yet with all of this, I still do not want to turn off my ability. I choose to accept it and all of the things that go with it. That is my choice. You have the right to choose for yourself, and whatever you decide is ok. It is your choice to make. I write this because I want you to know that I understand. My pm box is always open (or at least I think it is... I'm new to the forum B. |
