I am beginning to feel cheated and a bit like I am missing out. I cannot drink wine. It gives me an awful headache. I can drink most anything else except wine. It makes me really feel I am missing out on a good thing.

Is that all wine? Have you tried many vints? Have you tried other than just the grape wines - other fruits?
Many winemakers add sulfur dioxide during the fermentation process to control the wild yeast growth that they may not want. These sulfates are often the cause of the whine after drinking wine. -------------------- The only easy day was yesterday....

I used to get head aches with some wines and then I switched over to Organic wines which cost a little more and usually come from smaller vineyards and we have several where I live and no headaches!!
I do believe the earlier poster about the sulphates and that is the culprit. My homeopathic English doctor who is also my allergy specialist indicated that he too switched to organic wines for the same reason as myself. |

I am not able to drink Red Wines as I get a bad headache and a tingling sensation all over. Not a nice feeling.
However White Wines have no effect on me whatsoever, as far as an allergic reaction. Not a huge wine drinker, but I do like having a wine with good food,or two. -------------------- ![]() I Search for the Sjogren's Foundation,Who will you search for? I once had a life.. now I have the Internet... |

My first experiences with wine would be 30+ years ago and made by someone named "Boone" (had a farm or something) or a fine quality wine like TJ Swan

It makes me really feel I am missing out on a good thing. Try a wine made with a different grape from diferent year. And don't forget to drink a good wine eating a good chocolate, is amazing. |

I think it may be then tanins in the red wine that gives so many of us a wicked headache ... I too avoid it like the plague.
White wine - different Countries, different years and different grapes ... we rotate through them with Sunday dinners and/or when we have friends over. But I'm afraid I cause some friends to cringe - I only drink it icy cold (and have even been known to toss an ice cube in the glass - eep!). |
