Equilibrium Trailer

I just watched this movie with a friend. You may have seen it, it's a few years old, but I thought it was excellent. I was very surprised I've never heard of it before.

It's basically the book "1984" combined with "Farenheit 451" and "The Matrix."

Some of the music in the background is quite good, especially in the second half.
It repays a second watch, and you are right to the point about its sources I think.

Yep - got it at video ezi .......thought the action and well choreographed fight scenes were very good, but the theme/story line didn't grab me too much - thought the suppresson of emotion based feelings was a bit far-fetched and contained contradictions e.g. the 'enforcers troops' were motivated by...????

Nevertheless, definitely worth viewing!

I have it on DVD, and every time I watch it, I find additional things to admire about the story itself (action scenes aside), but then that is just me.

I thought so too at first, but then i realized that they really didn't need emotion. They were just acting in the way they were conditioned to act. Like hardwiring a robot or something. But then it does seem as though Father himself has emotion...

it's an interesting thought...

Yes - that thought hit me in the "showdown" scene - the "father" was obviously very emotional about the situation and impending doom!!! And I see what you mean about 'almost robotic', but (without labouring the point) they were evidencing anger and hostility at the undergound folk even as t hey exterminated them, which is indicative of an emotionally driven response?

I also agree with Z that there\s something new to see each time you view it - I saw it twice, then had to return the DVD - may have to get it out again later....

Good to share viewpoints!! thumbup.gif
