Yup, I always think of a poor fish suffocating with a barb stuck on the roof of it's mouth (ouch!) - but this gentleman used his fishing rod to reel in a drowning man. Good catch! smile.gif

Interesting Mara, good job he was able to cast accurately! In the same link area, I noticed a report that a lady near Mudgee, Australia, (where I live) was attacked by a kangaroo and her dog chased it off and saved her. Well, the U.S. news service beats our local one don't it!

Good story!! The fisherman must have been planning to catch some big ones that day. He obviously had fairly heavy line on to not have it snap. Best part is it wasn't the one that got away.

Yes, and it must have been a strong fishing line, too. If the near-drown gentleman survives, do hope he rewards his rescuer with the fishing gear of his dreams!

A kangeroo attacking people ... is this fairly common, I wonder? Good thing the lady had her dog right there to protect her! We have no kangeroos but have 'friendly' bears that wander up from the huge ravine one house away from us ... and toodle down the road here. We don't have a dog but did have a 6 foot fence installed right after moving in to give the kids a bit of protection while playing in the yard. Our bears may be 'friendly' but they are wild - eep!
