Hi everyone.

For the past two weeks I've only been getting 3 hours sleep every two days. Its horrible. (Its 4.17AM by the way)
I'm starting to feel (but hopefully not look) like a zombie!

I don't think sleep deprivation is hereditary but quiet a few members of my family suffer it.
I lead a reasonably healthy life style. I've cut back on coffee and energy drinks, I'm eating healthier, I no longer suffer anxiety and I don't have very much stress in my life.

My doctor recommended I take Phenergan sleeping pills.
But I don't want to have to go that far yet.

So does anyone know some natural remedies that help you sleep better?

Thanks in advanced guys smile.gif

Hi TZ. My wife and Parents all say reading a book, helps make them go to sleep.
Surely, you have tried that,I would imagine.
4.30am and I am still awake.
I am not a book reader.

I have been told that a glass of warm milk helps, but generally if I cannot sleep, taking two aspirins about half an hour before I turn in seems to do the trick. So do three double martinis, but the sleep is not worth the morning after.
Others recommend additional exercise in the evening.
Cheers,
John

In addition to the above, wonder if trying 'self relaxation' may help. Lots of books and websites on the subject and do hope something works soon for you.

I am with Zarathustra on this one. Drinking a glass of warm milk really helps sleeplessness. If you are unable to sleep and experience tiredness, then you might need to take some days of rest before you return to work.

If the worst comes to worst, then you may need to take the sleeping pills on a temporary basis to provide your body with the rest it needs. smile.gif

I would add to remove caffeine intake (coffee, tea, soda, chocolate etc) by 6 pm.
Stretch yourself in bed when you lay down on your back. Point your toes and then your heels, Arms to the side then over head. Inhale slowly on the extension and exhale on retraction. Once or twice.

Hi everyone!

Thank you for the advice.
I've tried a few things but I'm still awake.
I'll try some of the others later on smile.gif

Hi t.z thumbup2.gif

The best advice i can give you is to turn off your computer,if your brain is focusing on something it tends to forget how tired your are and when it comes time to sleep your brain is still in computer induced overdrive.

If all else fails try drinking a bottle of wine, but seen as you are underage that's not really an option. blink.gif

Hi mz30

I tried that.
I laid in bed awake for 2 hours; got fed up so I came back on the computer.

Hehe, lots of people have suggested I have some alcohol to go to sleep. Infact one of my friends thats staying here decided he'd drink (he was absolutely trashed- you must think my guardians are horrible but they aren't they were in bed when he started drinking) now hes asleep on the couch *envy*

*sigh* nearly morning.

Drink plenty of water, 2 pints maybe, (but not too much as it can be dangerous), during the day.

Don't drink it after late afternoon or trips to the bathroom will defeat the objective....

Thanks boopme, I'll give it a read.

I managed to get 3 hours sleep yesterday from 6.30am till 9.30am. I didn't feel any less tired than I did before I fell asleep sad.gif

I read the article.

Some of those reasons apply to me: late night eating and too busy. I am also beginning to believe I have a sleeping disorder. I've been like this for two and a half weeks. I also have had a tiny bit of stress that i forgot to mention earlier on.
Since the 10th I've had a friend staying with me (the one that was drunk on my lounge). I love having him here, hes a great mate but the stress he's going through (long story but that's why he's staying here) is rubbing off on me because I always hear about it! I mean fair enough hes got problems at home but so do I!! Okay, sorry guys I'll stop rambling. The point is since hes been here I haven't been getting sleep. He's not keeping me awake and he ws in hospital for a few days so that kept me awake.
Then there's the stressful situation I've got with work at the moment.
Then there's the stress of going back to school.

Life's a right b!tch angry.gif
