I am someone who has a great interest in the Titanic - It came to me one day that it had such a short and fateful life. I think it would be great if a second Titanic was made, maybe in Belfast as the original was made there. Firstly I want to gather as many signatures as I can and then submit it to a shipbuilder and see what they think. So if your interested in this, please sign the petition
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/buildas...anic/index.html I really would like to see a second Titanic built - I am sure many other would to Thanks! David |

Modern ship building is so much different, I wonder if this would make any sense to any of the major cruise lines?
On the other hand, building a modern, high-tech liner and calling it "Titanic II" might spark a lot of interest. -------------------- |

Mmmm. You would probably get a modern liner that was being built anyway with the name used as an advertising feature. Be nicer to have a ship looking like the original superficially, but with all the modern gubbins. Good idea.

The QE2 is being retired and will end up docked somewhere as a tourist attraction. I would certainly favor a QE3, but I am not so sure about a Titanic2, given the latter's unique and fascinating place in history, and its status as a graveyard for 1300-some passengers.

Hi David - lovely to have you here with us!
Can surely understand why building another Titanic' would be show of honour for this great ship - but on the other hand, I suspect one would have a heck of a problem getting most people to sail on it. Also wonder if my memory is accurate and sailors think it's bad luck to name a ship after one that's sunk - or even to change a ship's name, for that matter? |
