How could you not love a face like that?

Very Beautiful dog David. Retrievers make some of the best family pets, they're so gentle. I bet she's a joy.

Hey David,
Mighty huggable looking girl!!!
My wife and I are very doggie oriented people. We have two four legged children.
Keeba (my guy) is five or so, and is an aquita, sheppard mix.
He is a great watch dog, but it's good that people don't know that if you enter our yard, he will run and hide! LOL All show no go.
I had to rescue him this past winter/spring. He and his sister went running around the farm when they were investigating something stuck in the ice on the neighbor's pond, and he broke through.
I called for my wife on the cell phone, but I couldn't wait for her to arrive with a couple of ladders to aid me in his rescue. So I just started crawling out onto the ice when I too broke through.
I ended up having to continue breaking throuigh the ice for about 75 feet to get to him.
I grabbed him by his collar and put him on the other side of me so he could swim back to shore.
My wife got stuck in the muddy field on her way to get to us, so she had to call her dad to come get us all.
By the time I got back to the shore I was litterally frozen stiff. ( well my pants froze stiff as I got out of the water and the cold wind froze them ) They were so bad that I had to take them off, along with my boots, at the side of the pond.
I looked like an idiot as my father in law and my brother in law carried me across the muddy field to their truck in nothing but my coat and underwear!!! LOL
To really make me look bad, both Keeba and Jasmine ran straight home, and were standing on our back porch when we got there, looking like nothing had happened at all.
Jasmine is our little girl. She is about 18 months old and hasn't got an ounce of brain in her pretty little head. She's an american foxhound who looks like a greyhound with beagle colors and ears.
I guess my wife and I are like all dog lovers as we know that dog is GOD spelled backwards so that is how much we love and respect them!
Give Sally a hug for my wife and I, and what the heck, give her a treat on our behalf too!

David, what a beautiful girl you have, she's great. And UJJ - you must have felt a very 'cool cat' being carried back - you defintely deserved large quanitities of hot toddies after your sterling rescue effort!

Just a couple of shots of some of the dogs around our place ... the little blonde "butter won't melt in my mouth" girl is a spoilt rotten, loveable and delightful old friend "Maddy" ... she loves ball games and was nearly drowned for it because she chased a ball into one of our paddock dams, grabbed it, but because her jaws were wedged open with the ball, was taking in a lot of water as she tried to swim back to me, so much so that had to plunge in to get her - and I got stuck in thick, clingy mud. However, by leaving my boots in the mud, I managed to grab her and get back to dry land - when she'd coughed up a load of water, she jumped around and told me what a lotof fun she'd had .... and they were a nice, comfortable pair of boots too...oh well, that's life.

The boxer (Gret) and chihua hua (Biggles) were strays rescued from the pound and they are great mates - so much so that the Chihua thought he would like to get real close to Gret and maybe make beautiful progeny - Gret gently but firmly dissuaded him by sitting on him long enough for him to get the message, and no further probs from then on. hysterical.gif

As has been said - your dog is yours because he wants to be yours and wants you to be his and there's no feeling like the one you get when your friend comes and sits by - or on - you and looks at you with that veryspecial "You and me" look. Dog lovers everywhere - good on yer!! thumbup2.gif

Haha it's funny because I don't see many cats here at ThoughtVent... I guess all these dogs must have scared em off tongue.gif

unjustjohn! That is quite a heroic tale with a pinch of funniness tongue.gif

Thanks for sharing Quietmike smile.gif Hmm... it seems that whenever someone rescues an unknown dog from the pound - the rescued dog seems so gentle!

I think that a rescued dog is simply grateful for having someone to love and for the affection they receive.
