When I was a kd mom would not throw any food away, so we had some creative breakfasts.

Take the rice left on the stove from the previous night and place 1 cup in a 1 quart sauce pan or pot. Add a ½ cup of haft & haft cream (More or less depending if you like it dry or soupy). Add 2 heaping tablespoons of brown sugar or honey, one small box of raisins, and cinnamon to taste. Cook on low heat for 8 to 10 minutes and stir occasionally. Add water if needed.

You had rice left over there Acklan after supper?

Me thinks the Mom was planning ahead?

We had similar some days in Northern Wisc. It wasn't called "poorage" either as some might suggest.
If it wasn't rice, it was rolled/crushed oats. Prepared pretty much as you described above.

I still enjoy the rice/oats the day after now. Good food!

(I think some major cereal producers are packaging similar now? giggle)
