Manufactured to benefit the few and many people have died and billions of taxpayer dollars lost. And this, for all of you that think my sources are from the left, this is from a 3 star General. This war was entirely for profit gain and all including Bush should be investigated just like we spent 50 million dollars to discover Bill Clinton cheated on his wife and lied about it. I feel so bad for the families of the troops who have died or are still serving, my prayers are with you. I want to see Bush, Cheney, Rice, and Pentagon Don on trial for this though it will never happen
sorry, this should work This post has been edited by Tebow4President: May 2 2008, 10:01 AM |

If I had ten dollars for every time I messed up in posting a link, and I have probably posted a thousand of them in my time, I could easily afford a holiday on some wonderful, warm, restful postcard island where "only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noonday sun."
As it is, I still have to check every link I post just to make sure I did it correctly and then correct the ones I botch up--- so don't think your second (or third)attempt is disappointing. Z -------------------- Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one should be silent.

Ok, for the sake of discussion, let's assume that everything this general says is correct. That being the case, then I am confused. What he describes is certainly incompetence. Why has this not been presented to one of the Congressional Committees? Why is he putting it in a book instead?
On the other side of the coin, he can put out something like this in a book to stir up a controversy and make alot of money. Where is corroberating evidence? I am not a Bush fan. Some things he has done I am in agreement with him (tax cuts). What I find to be irritating is when accusations of criminal activity are thrown out there but yet nothing is ever presented to Congress. Makes no sense other than people just trying to trash someone because they do not agree with them. If any government official is guilty of something, present the evidence and let's get down to a Congressional investigation or impeachment, whatever befits the situation. While the article makes an interesting read, the fact that the General put it in a book and not into a Congressional hearing makes me suspect his motives. If it is true though, he should not have any trouble providing substianting evidence and lets get going with some hearings....Somehow, I have a hunch that's not going to happen. -------------------- The Constitution was not intended to limit the power of the people. Also, note the the article states:
QUOTE Sanchez was a three-star general — and the military's senior Hispanic officer — when he led U.S. forces in the first year of the war. He was relieved of his command by Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld in 2004 following the revelations of the abuse of prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison. In 2005, Marine General Peter Pace, the new chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, called him to say his career was over and he wouldn't get the promotion to a full general — four stars — that Sanchez says he was promised. In effect, Sanchez was effectively fired. In any situation like this there are really three stories or sides: The story of the person being fired, the story of the person doing the firing, and the real story about what happened. Clearly there is some bitterness here from Sanchez. Because of that, I'd be very reluctant to accept anything that he says at face value without, as Eric points out, conclusive corroboration. This is a clear attempt to sell a book, make money, and maybe strike back at those who "fired" him. -------------------- |

My grandfather used to tell me that alot. If someone has done something illegal or incompetently, then I think the American people should know about it. NO ONE is above the law. Conversely, if this is nothing more than an effort to sell books and make money, then the General should be punished for libel. -------------------- The Constitution was not intended to limit the power of the people. Totally agree - the key factor in any of these accusations etc., has to be "put up or shut up" - in effect, show us the evidence. -------------------- do what you will, but harm not yourself or any other

I think it will be some time before all first-hand accounts of the Iragi conflict will be reconciled and historians will be able to make a narrative of the action and presumed motives of everyone involved. Until, for example, they have access to pertinent documents and sort through all of them and until they can ascertain the reliability of these accounts, we can only have extremely tentative and perhaps overly hasty opinions about the causes and decisions subsequently made by those involved.

Wow, so what is it going to take before you are convinced, Bush walking up to your house and telling you to your face? Isn't it possible that Pentagon Don knew Sanchez would not play his bs game so he fired him to make him look like some bitter General? I just don't get how there is anyone who trusts anything that comes out of this administration |

You and many like you, want to believe that every single thing that comes out of the administration is sinister in some way. That's not really sound reasoning. All people here are saying is that if all that the General says is true, then prove it and lets do something. Otherwise, what has it accomplished other than selling books? Nothing. So, whats the point?....Other than to make money. -------------------- The Constitution was not intended to limit the power of the people. It was intended to limit the power of the government.

The Bush machine will never allow any of these Congressional hearings to happen, and the Dem Congress is way to weak to do anything about it so it won't happen |
