"Marine scientists studying the carcass of a rare colossal squid said Wednesday they had measured its eye at about 11 inches across — bigger than a dinner plate — making it the largest animal eye on Earth."
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iNrXD-a...5CenngD90C4LV00 The giant squid, captured by fishermen and frozen, is being thawed out and subjected to scientific examination. Jules Verne Postscript: DSTM has found this video interview with some of the scientists doing the squid examination: http://www.stuff.co.nz/videoplayer/125997a25281.html Thanks, Z -------------------- Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one should be silent.

QUOTE calamari I'm used to the intact, fully deep fried Greek style. Not those rubbery slices. Boil the oil and let us eat squid..... -------------------- The only easy day was yesterday....

Does the article say how large it is in general? Or did I miss it?
Is it like the sea horror stories of giant squid destroying ships? |

Have to view it again as it did say, around 8 meter tenticals,if I remember correctly.
Wonder what other monsters lay hidden at the bottom of the Oceans. Come in contact with one of these, and you would be lunch.

"When caught, it measured 26 feet long and weighed about 1,000 pounds, but scientists believe the species may grow as long as 46 feet."
Note: the giant squid is presumed to get even bigger than this! Z -------------------- Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one should be silent.

Another good reason to stay out of the water, besides the sharks!

I wonder if an eye that large sees clearer and farther. I'm also thinking calamari. I'm guessing something similar to a NVD or maybe even a infrared ability -------------------- "Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts."
