I would imagine this ... uh... habit(?) is like any other one, and in other habits take stealing for example, you don't start your career by robbing a bank - you start out slow. By this guideline one can surmise that this is not a new habit for this person. Mistake? No I don't think so, just got caught, and will more than likely do it again. Just don't invite him to your house.
