Fox Report
This is rather disturbing. They(the school) have been trying to get me to put my daughter on ritalin since she started school. I have given them and emphatic NO. Yes she's a little hyper, but most children are. Kids are designed to run around, not sit stationary in a chair all day (possible cause of childhood obesity??) They are too free with this medication, IMO, because they no longer want the challenge of keeping children in line. Put strict discipline and gym back in the schools and this may no longer be a problem. Heck I know I'D be classified ADD/ADHD if I was back in school, (I think its the artist in me) I spent 12 years staring out the window and I figure I turned out just fine w/o meds! People really need to think twice before anesthetizing their children -------------------- 'No arsenal, no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women.'

Personally, I feel as though ADD is an actual disorder,
however, I also feel as though it is being diagnosed to those that don't actually have it. Just because a child has a lack of discipline and enjoys daydreaming does not mean that he/she automatically has a disorder. Too often people want to blame their or their children's shortcomings on something that they can't control. Children and adults got along fine without ritalin for hundreds of years, and I think they will be fine without it now (at least a good many of them). Edit: Good for you Vicki!
