I had a strange experience today,i went to a local supermarket this morning at around 8:15 am to get a few bit's we needed for today while i was there i picked up a pack of beer's as i have guest's coming and there is a big match on today .
So i goes to the till and am told that i can't buy beer until 11am,which confused me a little as we had the 24 hour drinking law brought in a couple of year's back.
So my question is how come you can buy alcahol from a pub twentyfourseven but you can't buy it in a shop ?

Here anyway MZ30, There are different Liquor licences for Hotels, Restaurants, Nightclubs,Supermarkets, you name it.
Different Premises, have different fees, and Hours of selling Liquor.Agree it's crazy. You should be able to buy Liquor in a Supermarket, while ever they have the Doors open for Trading, when your Country has 24/7 Drinking Laws.

There are all sorts of blue laws around the country; for the most part these are 100 years old or older and no one has bothered to repeal them, especially if it means facing the wrath of teetotalers and fundamentalists. It was, at one time in recent memory, legal in Texas to buy booze on Sunday, but you could not buy tools, not even a scewdriver. I remember reading the other day that England was just getting around to eliminating some of the strange laws on the books about servants.

In Texas you can still be arrested for cattle rustling, if you have wire cutters on your person! blink.gif

Here alot of resturants are allowed to serve liqour on Sundays but you can't buy it at a store. I guess they want you to eat while you get buzzed!! Now I do know some people in N.Carolina that sell on Sunday when they're not using it to fuel their car!! It's some pretty good stuff with many uses. hysterical.gif
Think I may have to take a trip before too long, Hmmm, I wonder if he's "still" there?? secretwq0.gif grinner.gif
