Is Media the reorganisation of religion? Encapsulating and marketing the values we ought to possess and explaining history from its own perspective?

Media is the re-organisation of all events into perspectival understanding; a part of this knowing includes values. The media explains history, certainly, but "history" itself is also a re-organisation and interpretation of past events; historians are more careful and thoughtful about both the objects of investigation and their own role in interpreting it, and attempt to be "scientific." The media (of all sorts) may sometimes make noises about being "fair and impartial" but the very nature of their enterprise, dominated by economics and time restraints, makes this claim extremely tenuous.
It may be said, and I think justly so, that much of reality is socially defined, and is a complex of interpretations, some of which are of a higher order ( and thus more encompassing than others). The real question is: to what extent does the Media adequately help explain (provide meaning) to events, and what weight should---or IS by society--- be given its perspective.

On occasion I get the opportunity to hear pure genius speak, and thus you have spoken.
Your interpetation of this topic was elequently stated and therefore needs no further explanation.

Way to go!

P.S. don't pat yourself on the back too much though, "you'll get a cramp!"
