Some of it is funny, but it is so full of falsehoods and inaccuracies that I expected Michael Moore's name to come up at the end of it!

Not surprisingly though, as soon as it finished, the next thing I got was an advertisement for an Apple product.

I have a question for all you smart people here. I got Vista whan I bought this computer and the Microsoft Works is not like the Word or Excel programs in that some people can't open spread sheets and Letter's I send. Is there a patch or something for this problem? It's rather ANNOYING! angry.gif

Well, we are way offtopic.gif Vicki, but the answer is "yes and no". (This coming from one who isn't part of the "all you smart people" group, BTW.)

Let's do "no" first - MS Works is a very able program, and you can "save" files in it that can be read by MS Word or Excel, and you can "save" Word and Excel files in a format that Works can open (although you may lose some features), but in general, a Word or Excel file can not be opened in Works. The formats are just that much different. (We could start a new topic on this if you wish.)

The "yes" part is that you can download free "viewers", special programs from Microsoft that will let one open and view Word, Excel, and other Office files even if you do not have MS Office. You can not edit the files in these viewers, however.

Click h e r e to go to Office Online File Converters and Viewers webpage.

Enjoy.

Hi Vicki,

Not to be smart here, but I suggest you take this question over to the BC.
http://www.thoughtvent.com/forums/Computer-Help-f79.html
Specifically the Vista Forums.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum72.html

There are methods/means/programs to assist you with such.
(I use Open Office instead of the M$ Works.)

//Edit: JW types faster than I do. giggle. Thanks JW.
