I've been thinking a lot about infinity lately, especially since I started Calculus this semester. Here's my idea or should I say theory about infinity:

It's not unlimited it's just too big of a number that it's impossible to represent with all known matter in the universe. Hence why we have infinity.

Disagree or agree, why or why not?

Does infinity exist? It is impossible to prove or disprove. Interesting topic, I never really thought about it before.

However, if infinity doesn't exist, what is at the end of space?

"1. In the context of a number system,
in which "infinity" would mean something one can treat like a number.

In this context, infinity does not exist.

2. In the context of a topological space,
in which "infinity" would mean something that certain sequences of numbers converge to.

In this context, infinity does exist.

3. In the context of measuring sizes of sets,
in which "infinity" means a measurement of the size of an infinite set.

In this context, such "infinity" concepts do exist but there are more than one of them, since not all infinite sets have the same size. So there does not exist any one single "infinity" concept; instead, there exists a whole collection of things called "infinite cardinal numbers." "

I believe this sums it up nicely. If you want more details, this is the Site

In another sense, one could never know whether infinity exists or not unless one had an infinite amount of time......

True Zarathustra and you could never get to the "edge" of space, because it would require and infinite amount of fuel (energy and matter) to get there. wacko.gif

Finite is the end of infinity?

" 1/oo = 0 " well expresses the numerical. Otherwise, it's subjective.

Finite is the biggest number we can express until we run out of matter, energy, space, and time.

(This is a joke Yano) Some of us can count, some can't count, some will count, and some won't count.

Pick a number. I pick 3...
