Eleven extras were injured during the filming of a new movie starring Tom Cruise, police said Monday.

The 11 men, along with a companion who escaped injury, fell off the back of a truck on Sunday night. Police said in a statement that a bolt on a side panel of the truck apparently came loose as the vehicle turned.

Germany's Bild daily reported that Cruise himself was not involved in the weekend filming.

The extras were taken to a hospital, where all but one of them required only outpatient treatment. Filming work was stopped.

The movie, provisionally titled "Valkyrie," stars Cruise as Germany's most famous anti-Hitler plotter, Col. Claus Graf Schenk von Stauffenberg.

His casting has attracted controversy in Germany because Cruise is one of the best known adherents of Scientology, which the German government considers a commercial enterprise that takes advantage of vulnerable people.

Some critics maintain that one of its members should not be playing what some consider one of the Nazi era's few heroes.

The weekend accident happened during filming of scenes around the Finance Ministry, which was once the Nazis' aviation ministry.

Too bad it couldn't have been Cruise. I had the occasion to see this turkey on a talk show a couple of years ago where he spoke his mind, and the silence was deafening.

I wish he would stick to acting and not go around trying to ram his religion down everybody's throats...I'm with the German government on this one. angry.gif

His religion is only tip of the iceberg, I made reference to having seen him on a talk show, this was the Today show where Tom Cruise was being interviewed by Matt Lauer. The discussion some how got onto the topic of psychiatry and psychotic drugs where Cruise blew up in Lauer's face telling him that he didn't know what he was talking about, sadly neither one of them had their facts straight. I had lost respect for the guy when I found out that he was practicing a religion that is rumored to have been conjured up on a bet when L Ron Hubbard was attending a science fiction convention, but watching this fiasco was the last straw. One reported stated afterwards that Cruise could use some of those himself. If anyone wants to watch this interview you can find it here, scroll down the page to 6.24.05: and click on the picture of Cruise lecturing Lauer.

I agree. And since I'm on antidepressants, I got pissed off at his comments...Tom, please stick to acting...don't spew venom like that at the rest of us.

Is that link working for everyone else?

Well I wish those folks the best.
As for TC and Scientology, well it must be great to be rich and join because Tom's actually reached the level of a god thru his donations. Blessed are the poor... not here.
