Just wait a bit. I am sure we'll soon be able to match your prices!

Ayup. We are lucky here. Fully 1/3 of the cost here are various Federal and State taxes. (It does depend on the State taxes here.)

I paid $3.33.9 a gallon yesterday for 85 octane regular fuel.

W-e-el-l-llll, down here in Aussieland, we're metric and fuel price (unleaded - super is about 15 cents dearer) is just on $1.50 litre in the country, a bit lower in the cities, but we're being warned of probably $2 per litre coming "soon" - converting gallons/litres @ about 4.5 litres to to the imperial gallon = APPROX. $6 gallon currently, to go to 9 later!!! crazy.gif

One can but wonder....... whistling.gif

We're paying about $3.29/gal right now. That's the main reason why I bought my car-a used 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS- as with decent spark plugs and a short ram intake (SRI), I now get roughly 36 MPG on the highway. My wife has a Hyundai Sante Fe (small/mid size SUV) that's got that snazzy electronic AWD thing where the faster you go it transfers torque to the front to the point where 90% of your torque is at the front wheels and only 10% in the back, making it virtually a FWD allowing it to get 23MPG/Highway (not bad for an SUV).

If gas keeps going up I'm going to get a motorcycle....then eventually drop down to a moped-the older ones that you had to pedal to start! hysterical.gif

The price's here are scandlous we pay something like 60% tax per litre ,it's time the goverment stopped taking so much,i have 2 car's to run and the road tax on mine is £185 a year and my wife's is £105 ,that's just my personal car's ,won't go into how much work van's cost.so as a rough guide my road tax,car insurance ,fuel and repair's probably cost £8,000 ($15'500)a year for both car's that is just an unacceptable amount of money for anyone .
It's got to a stage in this country were the amount of police dealing with traffic offense's probably outweigh police dealing with real crime as they say crime does'nt pay but traffic offense's do.
Well i suppose they have to recoup money somewhere as they are losing the duty on booze and cigarette's since the smoking ban came into effect last july.
