I don't actually own an iPhone, but I was playing with one at an Apple store and I must say, they're pretty neat! The visual is really smooth, the phone calls come through nicely, and the internet looks awesome! I iPod function is pretty amazing as well, and it's all seamlessly intergrated into a nice device. I'm usually not a fan of Apple products, but this one gets my approval. The only drawbacks I can see are that there is no Instant Messaging apps on it (such as AIM, or Yahoo! Messanger), there's no removable SIM card, and it costs an arm and a leg ($499 for the 4GB version, $599 for the 8GB). I prefer Windows Mobile only because it's Windows and my carrier doesn't have the iPhone (it's only available with AT&T/Cingular and I have T-Mobile).

Overall the iPhone seems pretty good, what's your take on it?

Regards,
TheYoda

For that price, I'd rather buy a Playstation 3; the iPhone doesn't have Ratchet & Clank or Final Fantasy XIII coming to it. tongue.gif

I'm happy with my Sprint Motorola phone w/o a camera built in. wink.gif

Some manufacturer is going to come out with a similar format that will allow you to use the service of you choice and the Iphone is going to be in real trouble.

Thats already out, its called windows mobile and almost every major service provider has more than one phone with windows mobile. I dont think you can really classify the iPhone as a cell phone, it's more of a PDA that makes phone calls, as is most other devices with Windows Mobile. I was even talking to a guy that works at the apple store where i was checking out the iPhone and he even said that Windows Mobile was pretty good. The only thing the iPhone has over other phones is the touch screen, vivid internet (which I'm not sure, but I think some recent windows mobile devices can do the same), and YouTube. Even the camera on the iPhone isnt all that great. It's only a 1.3 megapixel and my phone has a 2MP (and i just a comercial for a helio that had a 3MP camera).

My point, Windows mobile is out and has essentially the same functionality as the iPhone, less YouTube.

And also, the iPhone doesn't have any IM programs, which is a drawback for me.

I really only need the phone, the camera and some text messages are a convenience I like. But I don't need the other options on my phone,
