The government wasted a few more dollars in Dec. 2006 and launched a 'secret' spy satelite. It didn't work! The satellite never reached orbit and was declared a total loss in early 2007. The thinking at the time was that it would take years to degrade and fall back to earth.

Wrong!

Its going to fall in late Feb. or early Mar. 2008. Right now, all they know is it will fall on North America - somewhere. They won't know for sure where it is going to hit until approx. 1/2 hour before it hits.

Big round of thank you to the US Government.

Gonna need a really really thick tin-foil hat to protect against this,

or maybe a deep bunker.

I have been trying to monitor where this satellite will fall, but the government is being VERY hush-hush about the whole thing. Why are they keeping it such a secret. I know there is "stuff" on there they don't want anyone to know about, but do they really think we won't notice a big chunk of metal & "stuff" falling out of the sky?

It's all hush hush because it's a spy satellite, and the US government doesn't want anyone to see/know what's on it. I can only imagine that any other government would be the same about it!

FOR THE RECORD: The New England Patriots do not, nor did they ever, have access to this equipment. whistling.gif

I wonder how much that missile costs... dry.gif

It's amazing how one mistake can just snowball financially. blink.gif

Sidenote: I'm waiting for the missile to malfunction and stay in orbit until it falls back to Earth. Now wouldn't that be irony? Dibs on any nuclear energy! whistling.gif

It could be a SM-3 missile from a Aegis Class Destroyer or even a ASM-135 ASAT (although I don't see it happening) that gets used, not to mention this

Look up! Today they are going to try and shoot down this white elephant. May Daughter says they'll miss. I'm hoping all that money we put into that Antimissile progam pays off. Here's the proving ground.

Any one taking wagers? smile.gif

I need to amend my information - It seems the weather is not cooperating, the seas are too high to try a launch. They are going to keep trying. But their window of opportunity is closing!

Well I'll be darned if they didn't do it! On the first try! Ha take that Korea - we did it better smile.gif

The bits and pieces will be coming down for the next couple of days, but they think they will burn up on reentry.

No One was right on - it took a single modified tactical Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) launched from the U.S. Navy AEGIS cruiser USS Lake Erie.
