I love the beach, Ocean waves ,sun and sand. I go to a few different beaches regularly. I even love the (N.J.)Jersey shore. I'm heading there for a few days tommorrow. I think I love the Caribbean the best. Maybe it's the variety of isles nearby. The Mediterranean is beautiful especially on the eastern end. The Atolls of Maldives (Indian Ocean) are simply relaxation. The pic in my avatar is from there. I've been to Polynesia twice, only once for fun tho. It is exotic in every way. But some how the Jersey and Caribe always win, especially for those walks with the bride and ?or the kids.
Anyone else have some favorite beaches or just love the beach.

I never met a beach I didn't like, boopme but I have a sentimental attachment to Daytona Beach. That was the first place I had seen the ocean. I've been addicted since then. smile.gif

Just got back from one of those beach vacations - bliss!

Years ago I lived on a tiny island in a house that was so close to the ocean that when a storm hit the windows on that side would dry white from the salt water from the rogue waves hitting them. Took me two years to figure out repainting that side of the house was useless - hoot!

And even now, I find the sea on a stormy day fascinating. The holiday we took this year was at a cabin on a sandy beach on the calm side of Vancouver Island so the children could swim safely - but if anyone gets a chance, the West side of the Island around the Tofina area is incredible on a stormy day. (I have a special love of isolated or semi-isolated areas with few, if any, other people on the same huge strip of sandy beach).

So many beautiful beaches in the world - and so few I've had a chance to sit on for more than 5 minutes - drat! (I burn like a lobster in a heart-beat and no amount of sun block helps).

Daytona is lovely, the only Beach I knew of where you drive your car on it.. My pop lives in Ormond Beach,5 miles north.

Hi Mara, sorry to double post but wanted to say something. I was in two hurricanes on the beach. Plus one serious storm camping on an island in in Lake George,NY. One was in the Caribbean and it was a bit hairy but at the time we were on a very large hotel. That made it feel safer. The other was on the south Jersey shore when I was a kid. I enjoyed that one. The whipping winds and ocean slamming was so awesome. In the morning of the next day the beach was 150 yards longer, freaky. The one on the lake was the scariest Lightning blasting ,wind and driving rain. We were in a tent on an island maybe 60 by 120 feet. The tent and tarp were leaning so intensely at times I thought it may go. What a night ,I'll never forget. But I still enjoyed it next day in retrospect.

I lived in Hawaii for a couple of years. Needless to say, all of the beaches were great!

As far as the East Cost goes, the shore of Maine is beautiful - especially when there's some weather out to sea that's producing a storm tide. Spectacular!

The Gulf Coast is where to go if you want to swim/boat/whatever in warm water. All I know about the West Coast is that I've flown over it numerous times. cool.gif

I haven't been to Hawaii yet. But it does look wonderful. I do plan to go there in a year or two. On my way to Japan I want to stop in Hawaii for a bit. Hmmm have to see how long it takes to get from Japan to Australia.

Next time you do that, wave.

I'm just 5 minutes from Anna Maria Island on the Gulf.

Wow, boopme - glad you survived the experiences! The ocean is incredible but only when we're tucked safely inside when Mother Nature is throwing major hissy fits - eep!

I would live on the seashore again, if only I could - isn't it odd how some people find nearly instant peace when by the water. Hmmm.

I laughed out loud when seeing the photo as surely that is how most imagine - and enjoy - spending time on the beach.

My theory is that if there is such a thing as reincarnation I should get my order in early to not not not come back as a red hair with pale skin - grin!

I want to go to a tropical beach, where its calm and the water is crystal blue, and most importantly, alone. Sure, the beach on the jersey shore is nice, but theres too many people there, and I can't enjoy myself with kids running around and people throwing frisbees over my head, lol.

I always wanted to go to Hawaii and maybe buy and live on one of the little islands around Hilo by myself. Just me and my guitar on the shores of Hawaii, it's a beautiful thing... But i gotta get out of the fantasy world because i have to go to my nephews first birthday in brooklyn, which is pretty far from paradise, but it is home. tongue.gif

not a big beach person , (but then my experience with beaches is different than most, a USMC thing smile.gif) , Always thought the South Pacific would be nice, Tahiti in particular ,untill I saw Anthony Bourdain there on TV. but I'd still like to go Island hopping down there. a nice quiet secluded beach sounds like heaven.
