Much better to put it on "vibrate"

than to have your cell phone blast out

the William Tell Overture in the middle of a crowded restuarant or theater,

isn't it?

All three of my classes this semester are in a brand new building which has an unexpected side effect due to its construction components, it's a Faraday Cage, there is no signal strength at all inside, the instructors like it. Obviously this wasn't a planned effect as the installed clocks that can be adjusted by a wireless signal can't be adjusted.

Yeah, I never turn my phone off vibrate. I either don't hear it when the volume is turned on (due to headphones or loud people), or everyone will hear it (due to silent classroom or library.) hysterical.gif

I told the wife that I wanted to download "Imperial march" for a ring tone for when she calls.

FYI-->Imperial march is the song that comes on when Darth Vader enters a room....then people usually die. My wife has that same effect! lmfao.gif

I usually keep it on silent, unless I'm expecting a call. And even then, I use a simple 'ring' noise.

It is very annoying when someone's phone goes off right in the middle of class...especially if it is a loud rap song (one of my history professors: "That sounds like a direct line to Hell." hysterical.gif ).

I know some people that have a different type of ringtone for the classroom.

Apparently, extremely high pitch noises can be heard by children/young adults, but can't be heard by those older. Some students have an extremely high pitch ringtone that they can hear when it goes off, but most teachers can't. I thought that was pretty clever.

Cell phones are no longer allowed in my area schools. Especially since that special ring device was used to cheat.

Cell phones should only have two ring modes - vibrate & 9 volt shock.

I have no problem with kids having phones in light of all the problems in today's world.

Use as in abuse is one thing while in school. Emergencies are a whole other game.
