As our economic forecasters predicted back in 1976, someday this will be a world economy with no-trade borders. So it has come.
Unfortunately what the forecasters did not foresee, is that becoming a world economy has not been kind to the already industrial developed nation's working class. So now what do we do? Bring back tariffs? Not going to happen! Too late to see that meaneal tasks and labor have already gone to the countries with the largest and cheapest labor forces, so what can we do? It doesn't matter what new inventions we come up with to drive the economy, because the manafacturers are still going to the place the jobs where they can minimize their costs to produce, and sell to the economy that that can maximize their profits. Again the capitolist powers that be are not looking at the long term affects on the nations that provide them their profits. They have gotten tunnel vision as to the short term gains. This as you know has had a profound affect on our jobs and families. The only economies that are growing by huge leaps, are the OPEC nations selling oil, and the comunist country of China who has a billion plus work force. Know body is looking that even in those countries, there is no-trickle down effect taking place. The rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer. Here in the U.S. the president is pulling his hair out now seeing that with all the bad decisions of the recent past, the consiquences are devistating RECESSION!!!!!!!! Our leaders are still out of touch with what is really happening on the streets of america. Their using graphs and charts for foresacting that are outdated and useless to bring about change in this economy. You can't count an unemployed person that is not collecting unemployment. Short term taxe breaks are going to do nothing but allow the american public to pay a heating bill for one more month, but it is not going to stimulate the economy. Tax breaks for large business have already shown us that along with all the state abatements provided to them, they are still closing their plants here in the U.S. As all of this is happeing the CEO's and VIP's are still getting huge bonuses at the end of each quater. That would be great to a small businessman; even as his companies profits go down, his personal earnings get higher. In the meantime, our political leaders don't even have to lift a finger, and they wages increase automatically. Man I wish I knew of any temporary job, where I would only work two or four years and I get to recieve wage increases and lifetime benifits!! So what can be the answer? Our leaders are always telling us that we have to tighten our belts as they have to have a tailor let out their pants. They show us how they save operating costs by sending some of our most private and secure information to India.(Social Security information and programs are now run from India) Yes that cut costs, but took jobs away from us. Congress get raises automatically just by not voting at all! The system is rewarding those who are part and not to those who are paying the bills. Everyone loved Ronald Regan, but isn't he the guy who got written into law, even larger tax cuts for his wealthy cronies? Yes he is! What are the american people to do? Truely there is only one simple answer. It doesn't matter whether the wealthy like it or not; we have to cap earnings at the top of the heap. I'm not sure if Japan stills limits company CEO's to no more than ten times it's lowest paid employee or not, but that is what we have to inact as law here in the U.S. My God the director of the Red Cross has an anual salary of 18 million!!!! That's un-holly. A non profit organazation that is totally dependant upon our good graces living like a Queen while some peon sucks the blood from our arms. Can't we see that there is something horribly wrong with this structure. How long are we the living-working, and dieing public going to carry all this dead wait? Spend $100 million dollars for a temp job that by law you can only have for eight years. So someone do the math, the job doesn't even pay $500,000 a year! I know that I can't afford to invest my pocket change to that type of dividends. As I pointed out in a previous posting. It is only a small nuber of college educated few, who are leading down the primrose path, and we get to the end of the journey, we are going to find ourselves at the local septic pool! It should be law that anyone who aspires to becoming president must first spend the four years between elections on a train or bus and visit every major city in the U.S. then only the last four months before elections spend time on the airwaves anouncing their posistions, and be equaly capped on how much can be spent by law. That money should have to be spen on equaly alloted venues. American legal registered voters should be required to vote, or absentee vote, period. Only thirty percent of registered voters, vote on anything. The rest sit on the butts and complain about the way things are! Yep it does no-good at all to give the guy who builds you a house $300 or $500 dollars back on his taxes when he doesn't earn enough through the year to pay for a house himself!!! I would be willing to bet a buck that this temporary tax break the lawmakers are wasting time on, is only going to provide you and I a night out on the town, or the chance to pay next months heating bill! Love & Peace, John |
