Dear public,
I know of no other way to write a post except how I was taught to write in school.
So please bear with me, as I am lousy at typing, my spelling sucks, and God should forgive me for my punctuation.
I have very little knowledge of a computer and so when I tried to enlarge this type size, and adjust the font, and finally put a color that would be easy on your eyes. I totally failed.
I"m not absolutely sure why I am here at thoughtvent because, I am not completely convinced that it will make a gnat's diffference in hell, but I have got to go somewhere!
My life has run about three quaters of the distance that I will be allowed to live and I'm feeling so remorse for not participating more fully before I became so inept.
I'm here as a last attempt to make a change or difference somehow.
In reality, it would suit me to a tee if the people of the world would let me run things just for the next decade before I die.
If I were able to convince you all to let me do so, I would be able to pass on to all of the people, just how to properly love one another and get along in a much better fashion.
Knowing that is completely unrealistic I will settle for being the president of the united states in 2012.
I am disabled since a car accident in march of 2000, and I was thinking that I could use my social security check for the next four years to travel these states once again, in order to introduce myself to my bretheren and sisterhood of the U.S.
Seems far fetched doesn't it?
Well, it's been more than once that I have been acused of walking to a different drummer!
It's ironic that I was terrible at surfing in Florida, and I couldn't even stand on a board in California, now I find that I can't even surf the web!
I first need to tell you, the people here, that I was a liar, and I boozed, and I fornicated, and I did inhale.
I have cheated on my taxes once before, I got kicked out of the marines, although it was an honorable discharge. Then I falsely inlisted in the army, where they booted me out with a general discharge.
I guess I just couldn't stand the yelling, screaming, and beating about my head by the DI's.
Yep, I have been in jail when I was a stupid kid.
And yet somehow I have to convince the majority of the people that I truely have the interest of the foremost in my heart.
I feel the the people in our government are so far removed from the real people that they have no-idea what they should be doing in congress, senate, supirior court, and most importantly, the presidency.
No-one in the real world makes the kind of money that they are making, or has the health benifits they receive.
I would be willing to bet that not one of our representatives has enough faith in our people to walk in every neighborhood of every city here in the states!!!
I was thinking that it would be a great sign of just how concerned I am with our society today, to start by walking personally in every major city, and every city hood to garner my support.
Sure there will be times of insecurity for my well being, but then I think back to the sixties when I hitched hiked around all of our states including Alaska, Hawaii, all the provinces of Canada. I even made it to Australia for one night.( I got deported for underage drinking, public intoxication, and no-passport) %&@!#! Happens!
So, what the heck!
I am now feeling we need to have a leader who isn't worried about our posistion in the world, as long as we get our own %&@!#! together, the world will certainly have no-animosity towards us anymore.
Here I am!
I have got the desire!
I have the courage!
I have the Love!
I only need you my brothers and sisters to back me up, and we will make this United States what it was meant to be!
The handle that I am using here is not because of any negativity, but just a way to express how I feel we the people are being treated by our own government today. Unjustly!
It's time for our biggest representative(president) to be of the people, by the people, and for the people, and that is exactly who I am!!!!

Love & Peace,
John

I am sure you will find topics here to which you can contribute. I certainly agree that many aspects of government are failing---one has only to look at the Katrina victims two years after, or to look at the shoddy way it has supported wounded veterans, or to look at the absolute failure to recognise the problems in health care, in social security, in energy independence, and in climate change.

"I have very little knowledge of a computer and so when I tried to enlarge this type size, and adjust the font, and finally put a color that would be easy on your eyes. I totally failed."
It is not the form, but the content that matters. Most of the Members here simply use the default fonts and are used to reading and writing in it.

"I"m not absolutely sure why I am here at thoughtvent because, I am not completely convinced that it will make a gnat's diffference in hell, but I have got to go somewhere!"
Civilisation flourishes when people openly and authentically come together to share their perspectives. I think you will find TV a pleasant and open community in which you may certainly freely express your opinions.

I was touched by your honestly and by the sense you truly do feel 'time is running out', unjustjohn.

And I agree, must of our world does seem to be unjust in so many ways - and a great deal of it could perhaps be the apathy so many people seem to feel. Perhaps for the most part, contributed to by the sense that it doesn't really matter what we (the individial citizens) truly want our world to be like, rather, our politicians seem to have forgotten who they are actually representing and who is truly paying their hefty salaries, perks and benefits.

But while none of us may be able to swim across the entire ocean, must of us can at least dog-paddle across our neighbourhood swimming pool. We can, and do, teach our children to maintain their 'color blindness' that is instinctive when they are little ... we can and do make peace with and befriend our neighbours that come from vastly different cultural backgrounds and religious beliefs ... we reach out our hands to help these more misfortunate than others ... and speak out when unjust things are occuring.

Few doing this become famous, few touch more than a few lives - but those lives touched go on to touch other lives. 'Dog-paddling' through life may not sound like much at times, but if all we 'little cogs' do our personal best, the big 'wheel' of our Countries may not fall off. Gentle grin.
